Discraceful media coverage in Sydney!

I opened today's "Home of the Sydney Swans" newspaper (or so they profess) the Daily Telegraph thinking there would be at least some sort of write up on our biggest home and away game of the year against the Pies.

What was there? A small article on the Bombers and the fiasco over the wearing of the cancer armbands and on the bottom corner of the article, about 10 small lines referring to Craig Bolton saying it is a big game on Saturday and Ben Matthews is likely to return.

I AM FURIOUS and have already written and sent an email to the paper, not that they will listen but hey at least I feel better.

Anyone else notice the lack of media coverage?

Funnily enough my little bro mentioned this morning that there had hardly been any coverage regarding the game.

If the crowd is anywhere near 60,000 it will be remarkable. The swans have suffered the biggest effect of the World Cup in the Sydney media. League coverage has still been very strong.

The hype is so low for a top 4 clash against the AFL's biggest time.

Hope Eddie is in Sydney to see what the Swans are actually up against instead of thinking of us as a privledged team without competition in Australia's biggest city.

There was a small strip ad in the Daily Terror today (at the bottom of the social gossip page of all places )
Plus there has been a ad running on TV.
I guess come closer to the game the media coverage will ramp up.

RE: Daily Tele (or any newspaper), I only read Daily Tele for the 'Confidential' secton.
Everything else off the net. The only way to actually get decent coverage of anything, let alone AFL in NSW.

Because today is TUESDAY and just like the poster, there is usually nothing too informative or useful to place in the paper.

Try the sunday papers ... there's virtually no coverage. I think that since the GF, the Swans coverage has been pitiful.

It aint just the league in Melbourne (which coverage is very reasonable considering it's interest level) even the AFL is finding it hard to gain any major coverage over the World Cup.

The AFL would be very concerned with the state of play and thanking god it is only every 4 years. But now with the Asian Cup every 2 years it is going to mean the Socceroos brand (if they get it right and it looks likely) will become the leading national sporting brand having major tournaments covering a month every two years.

A bugger for us, but it must be hell for teams like the Kangaroos, Bulldogs and others.

Coverage in the Terror is usually crap. They paid the Swans a heap of dough for the right to be the official newspaper and sponsor, yet never write any articles.

Buy the Herald instead, normally a much better write up.

Every time i travel up to syd for games i find the smh the best paper buy far for covering the swans.Dont you mean spondoolys(dough)
