    Schmidt / Willoughby

    Dear Roosy

Please play these two young guns in the next few weeks.

Why do you persist with ordinary players like Benny Mathews when potential guns like Tim and Josh are languishing in the ACTAFL?

How does picking up 50 possessions a game at Manuka Oval improve these two as AFL players?

Are we helping develop the Crows midfield, as this is where these two will surely end up???

I think you are a great coach but surely you must build for our future post Willo.

    Regards

    Hammo

    Give The Youngsters a Chance!!!

My feeling is that the teams last two performances have not justified the continued faith shown in the group as a whole. It seems that the "Premiership" players have built up quite a bit of credit and will be persevered with even when they are in a little form slump.

I understand that the majority of players in the team are the "Premiership" players, though we must wonder how much "credit" they have built up as a result of last years flag.

Can someone please explain why some of the juniors that have shown obvious glimpses of form in the reserves continually do not get an opportunity and infact a player like Schmidt does not even make the emergency list this week - seemingly taking a step backwards.

How do we build up the confidence of these players and allow them to show what they have if we continually play average senior players over promising juniors?

Would it not make sense to bring in a couple of juniors over the next few weeks rather than waiting for a forced change through injury? Have our seniors really been travelling that well that at least one junior cannot crack it for a game? Where is our forward planning, or do we only plan for the future when it is forced upon us with injury?

Our youngsters are getting "old" waiting for a chance

I haven't watched much of these two players but surely their time is right for at least an opportunity to show what they can do in the seniors.

It seems older average players will get preference over younger inexperienced players at the Swans. We continually gripe about giving youngsters a go but the team selectors don't do anything about it. Therefore perhaps we have overestimated their skill levels.

Either we are totally ignorant of the true potential of the youngsters on our list or our selectors are happy to push them out the door and trade them for more experienced players next year. After all, why would they hang around a club and be known as good players in the ACT league rather than start senior careers elsewhere.

Original, you say you haven't watched much of the young guys, but you want them in the firsts?? Am i reading right?
You haven't seen them but you want to throw players who have got the team to 7/4 out?? There has to be some logic for that, but I'm buggered if I can see it!

I, like many others would love to see Schmidt et al get a game, but not at the expense of blokes who are travelling OK. Sure Schmidt got 60 odd possessions a few weeks ago, but if you put Kirk or Ablett or J.Bolton etc in the Magoos they would rack up greater touches. The coaches are the best judges of how the aspirants compare with the incumbants.

              Royboy!!

In reply I would like to stipulate that I have watched some games of the juniors in question but more particularly believe that the soundings of various assistant coaches at the Swans that "Schmidt", "Willoughby", "Vogels" and "Moore" are not too far away and deserve a chance.

I don't know if you are questioning my football knowledge or "logic" which I find to be insulting, but surely the opinions of the assistants as I have stated above should hold some bearing and also help you understand my "logic".
