    Don't Panic

    Don't Panic

It's just a little form slump.
It started with the Kangaroos--and stealing that game probably prolonged it.
St. Kilda just barely got home in conditions that didn't suit our gameplan--at least that's what our boys must have told themselves.

This week our apathy is plain for all to see.
Sunshine will be the best disinfectant.
(I know it hurts more because it's Collingwood, but in the grand scheme of things that doesn't really matter.)

Roos hinted last week at weilding the axe. He'll do it this week--well a hatchet at least.
...and there's plenty of deadwood: Chambers, Mathews and Richards. One or two of those will go.
A little pruning and the addition of some new blood will be enough to straighten us out for a run at the finals.

    Honest.

      bull@@@@!!!

great to see some optimism, but I've got a different take on it. Look at our run in the next month: Freo, Crows, WCE, Richmond.

Freo have been crap, but we're no certainties at the SCG. We may scrape home, but how the hell will we beat Adelaide or West Coast? We'll be 3 wins out of the top 4 and carrying horrendous form into the game against the Tigers.

      We're gone!!!!!!!!

We don't play well at home anyway--we're just as likely to beat West Coast or Adelaide away.
...and the week off didn't seem to help us tonight.

In my view this is 2004 season revisited. Middle of the road again. We'll be lucky to stay in the eight since we can't win at home any more.
Roos what happened to your axe? It is time to use it! NOW! Without any stupid excuses! You need to bring some fresh blood into the side and get rid of some passengers at the same time.

We play Adelaide at SCG and Port at AAMI. Based on the current form pencil those down as a loss.

I really can't work out at all where we'll go next. We all know they have the potential to turn it around and finish top 4. We also know they have the potential to just as easily switch it off and barely scrape into finals. Who knows what they'll do.

However it's very disappointing that so quickly we've slipped back into this uncertain mode rather than maintain solid form right throughout the year.

...and we still nearly beat them. It doesn't look all that good for us...or Collingwood.

We were down by 40 points at one stage in the 4th! They controlled 3 and a half quarters; how did we nearly beat them?

I'd be very happy with how my team was going if I was a Pies supporter. They beat the reigning premiers convincingly on our home turf, where we have had a great record.

If they had converted a few easy chances in the first half, it would have been 10 goals instead of 40 points at that stage.

Our own kicking for goal was terrible as well, but lets hope this isn't an excuse to keep the passengers in the side.

I will bet my house that roos WONT weild the axe. He doesnt practice what he preaches. Matthews wont go. And getting rid of of chambers and richards is not a statement by many means, as both of them dont have cemented spots in the team as such. Roos does not, and will not, drop "senior" players on form. Matthews will stay. Thats it, and as usual we will see some lame change of the emergency list, and at most maybe dempster or someone come in for a richards.
Roos is too scared to make whole sale changes. Thats the provlem. When is he going to realise that you need to blood ur young players. Now is a better time than in 2 or 3 years with everyone reting etc. We saw it tonight with the Pies, they had a mix of old heads with young bodies.. and it CAN work. Keep just the old guys on there is not enough.
