    The Axe

In the Herald Sun this morning it is stated that up to 6 of the ones are unable to train due to various ailments.

Roos as good as admitted this in his usual "roundabout speak".

    Who are they?

Nick Davis must be - doesnt travel far.
    MOL - obvious.
    Mathews - obviuos
Crouch - been carrying something for weeks. Consecutive games records mean nothing in a team context.
Jolly - knee strapped, not getting to contest, not dropping into the hole at half back, not making position for mark.
Hall - suspect hammie problem - didnt seem to run as much last night.

'sgoin on Roosey. While most other rotate juniors through the ones we dont. We carry the "golden oldies" regardless of their condition and pride ourselves on only playing 24 for the season so far. Result a sliding ladder position.

How dare we fall for the old trick of thinking the same players will carry us through for for ever. So many premiership clubs have fallen for this over the years. I thought we were smarter than this.

While our last 2 loses have been close ones and there is no doubting the endevour, maybe the true reason for our drop off over the past 3 weeks is finally out.

Give MOL a rest and put Vogels up there. At least he might kick the easy ones, an area where we are killing ourselves. I get sick of seeing Micky week in week out chastising himself for simple misses. They are always the same. Fades to the right when heading just inside the goals. How about aiming for the middle and dropping it straight at least 2 out of 3. Must be MOL's last season.

Would love to see Mathews, O'oughlin and RIchards dropped immediately. All offer nothing to the team at the moment and are not going to get any better. Its time to bring in some new faces.

Doyle can wait til he is ready physically.

And Ryan O'Keefe showed again last night that he is only an average player that gets towelled up by decent opposition. Blokes like Clement and McPhee own him whenever they get him. He can fire when on the 3rd defender, but when he gets the 2nd after Hall, he is exposed and doesnt appear much.
    - Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in a world they've been given, than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact, it's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration, it's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing!

I thought O'Keefe was one of the best apart from his misses - and I acknowledge that is a big "apart" given that it is his job to kick those kind of goals.

But he presented all night, his field kicking was above average compared to the rest of the team and his marking was as solid as ever.

His couple of mistakes were certainly costly but to say he was "towelled up" is way off the mark IMO.

I get uncomfortable when I see comments like these because I personally feel that it should be 'compared to the rest of the field', not the team.
For e.g. if the whole team is @@@@ on the night (or whenever), and one player is 'average/above @@@@' so to speak, I don't think it justifies their 'just ok' performance.
        I hope that made sense?

I totally agree. Obvious replacements are Vogels, Schmidt and hopefully Malceski.
