    The spirit of the bloods?

Flash in the pan, 2005 marketing exercise. It aint amongst the 22 blokes that represented us last night. A 'blue collar' team needs 100% committment to the cause and it aint there this season. 72 years of hunger is gone and the drive to go back to back is not as great as it may have been. The Swans have about 4 weeks to get it back or be prepared to suffer the consequences for seasons to come. There are a number of players with desires to return home, and the reputations to make it happen, players who may opt for retirement, and Roos has expressed a desire to do other things in his life - if the players do not have their hearts in it it is hard to see him hanging around having proved himself and achieved so much already. The real hangover may be just beginning...

In a similar vein I was thinking today about the fine line teams walk with respect to confidence.

They need to believe they can win every game they play.

However, if they believe they can win they may simply expect to win.

They need to believe and understand what they need to do.

    Last year they had this.

I don't think they did in 2004. I'm not sure if they do this year.
