    Buchanan - 2nd half specialist?

This guy is awesome in the 2nd half, especially in last quarters

last night he was great and last week in the 3rd quarter against the pies

and bloody brilliant in last years prelim and granny

he seems to be everywhere around the clearances and giving us drive towards our forward line - always puts his body on the line and is very important player for us

just needs to work on his goal kicking even though his field kicking has been pretty good lately

Agree, we play our best football when Buckie can get his hands on the ball around the clearances with a bit of space.

Just need to get him to play like that for 10 to 15 minutes a quarter for all of the game.

I made a comment to my wife last night that more than anyone else in the team Buchy appears to be the team barometer.
To which my wife said, maybe he only plays well when the rest of the team lift.
Which comes first, Buchy lifting or the team lifting?

I thought Buchanan was key in lifting the team in the last quarter.

The stats dont lie on this count for the game against freo.

            Amon Buchanan

            First Half - 3 possies
            Vs.
            Second Half - 14 possies

But the thing i find most impressive from him is... 11 Tackles, 5 more then the nearest swan.

Well done Bucky, great game......or should that be half?

It's just a gut feeling thing, but I suspect that Bucky lifts first and then the team. Looking way back in time to 8 days ago, we seemed to look more dangerous-- and Collingwood more shaky-- whenever the ball was in his hands.

Bucky's story dovetails nicely with the 'the only stat that accurately predicts success in footy matches is accurate kicking' story. Like Paul Kelly before him, Bucky was not naturally gifted at all in the kicking department, but has come an enormous distance through sheer bloody hard work.

When Monty decides he's going to run, he can nearly break open a game single handedly.

Against the Pies, he was basically the sole ignition to get the game going for Sydney after half time.

Against Freo, he broke the tackles and was feeding beautifully off LRT. Swans lifted and game over.

If Monty could do several times a game over the whole game consistently, then we'd be looking at Sydney's Chris Judd.

He's just got a confidence problem in front of the sticks a bit, but that can be ironed out eventually.
