Just One Player from another team

If you could select JUST ONE player from the balance of the AFL that Sydney needs the most going into 2007, who would you dearly love to see in The Red and The White?

I personally think that we need a few, but to narrow it down to one, I would say that we need a 6'2", speedy midfielder who loves to run through the middle. Doesn't kick sideways, has genuine talent:

    Adam Cooney

I think the CoonDog would be fantastic for Sydney, speed, fantastic delivery into F50, time on his side and I think the coaching staff would round out his team game.

    Who's your pick?

    Description sounds good.

However, promising as young Cooney is, there is another name to whom the same description applies but is more explosive and more consistent. If you're looking for a midfielder, really couldn't go past Judd.

A Scarlett or Rutten would be nice too!

A player I really like is the West Coast fullback Glass, he is quick and strong. Even Bazza said he's the best fullback at the moment.

Agree on Judd. When he has the ball it's like Moses parting the Red Sea. The defence just melts away from him on either side and he seems to shoot up the middle uncontested.

        Wonderful to watch.
Captain, I am detecting large quantities of win in this sector

          Rutten's a gun!

Judd is pure fantasy for footy lovers!

CoonDog is not as good a runner as Juddy, but he is a better kick, I think.

Purely based on the ability to break a game open I would have to toss up between Chris Judd and Jonathan Brown - For the requirements of the Swans I would not hesitate in going for Chris Judd - Almost without a peer in the midfield.

In terms of players that we might 'realistically' (well, a trifle optimistically, but forgetting pure fantasy like Judd, Riewoldt, Pavlich, Koschitzke or Brown) get, I could name about 6 Dogs players who can play midfield and/or forward.

Actually, I will name about 7 Dogs players: Daniel Cross, Cooney, Giansiracusa, Mitch Hahn, Brad Johnson, Robert Murphy and Jordan McMahon. You could have thrown in Scott West and Rohan Smith if they weren't too old.

Mobile, big enough to hold their own in the contests (well, except Murphy) and most of all: they can hit a man with their kicks. No substitute for that. And the Dogs have so many of the same type of player that surely they can spare us one!

If we're after more tall stocks for the backline (and we probably should be): Rutten and Scarlett would both be a good fit at Sydney, as would Geelong's Harley. Glass (who the Weagles incidentally 'got' with their pick for Jason Ball) would need further investigation, as he's been a WA boy his whole career.

Of players currently playing with 'can do anything' skills who don't fit any established category, though: I'd love to turn up to the SCG and watch Jared Brennan play every week. He's the youngster who reminds me most of MO'L in 1996 (without dissing the 2006 version who is still an amazing talent). That kind of excitement and unpredictability is a big reason why you want to pay cash to watch a footy game.

Too late to get Cox, now that Ball has retired, could you imagine those two in the ruck, it would be a nightmare for commentators.

Judd would be good, as would either Cousins or Kerr.

As it is he's never just 'Cox' but always 'big Cox'. He's also out for up to 6 weeks now - good news for us and our under-manned ruck division.

I think I'd pick Ryan Griffen above almost any of those - he's going to be an absolute gun.

What about McLeod or Wirrpanda to match kennellys run out of the back.
