    30 Second Rule

Our set shots have been absolutely appalling in recent weeks and we aren't the only team.

Is the 30 Second Rule having an impact?

I watch players like RO'K and Baz and they don't seem to have the same kicking ritual they were employing last year.
Baz, throws the ball on the ground....walks away....blah blah blah
RO'K, wipes his nose on his guernsey...blah blah blah

Even Davo looked rushed and out of sorts on Sat!

    Thoughts?

With Matthew Lloyd injured for the season, the rule is not having much impact at all.

No just think they need kicking practice, but at least it brings every body into line.
Now this is a thread that i would expect on the ego -centric, wank session that is redandwhiteonline.com...

When Bazza throws the ball on the ground, if i was an opposition player i would pick it up and play on. Surely by getting rid of possession he has played on?

I thought if he is inside50 and indicates he is going for a shot any player that picked up the ball would have gone thru the mark and Baz would get 50m Free.

Back on point....kicking for goal has been really bad all round.

          Look at this weekends scores:

          Kangaroos 14. 12. (96) def. Essendon 13. 11. (89)
          Melbourne 18. 12. (120) def. Port Adelaide 12. 10. (82)
          St Kilda 18. 17. (125) def. Hawthorn 8. 7. (55)
          Brisbane Lions 8. 23. (71) def. Carlton 7. 14. (56)
          Sydney Swans 12. 19. (91) def. Fremantle 9. 4. (58)
          Adelaide 21. 21. (147) def. Geelong 8. 7. (55)
          Richmond 13. 14. (92) def. Collingwood 6. 9. (45)
          West Coast Eagles 8. 16. (64) def. by Western Bulldogs 10. 13. (73)

The inaccuracy is across the board. Is it 30 Second rule and rushed shots or pace of game means players just bang it in and hope for the best?

Or is it rushed behinds to take advantage of the quick kick in?

          Where are the stats gurus?

Check out this scoreline from the SANFL over the weekend.

            South 26.5 v Sturt 10.11

And this was a wet weather game on the coldest, wetest ground in Adelaide.

Damien Cupido kicked 11.3, best for South included Thewlis and McGlone!!!

Then you'd be penalised 50 m, because the umpire hadn't called play on.

I noticed how bad the accuracy was, I think it is just poor kicking, nothing to do with the 30 second rule. A Lot of the shots I saw were in general play. Don't know how many were set shots. We all know 30 seconds is enough for most men.

if another swan picked it up, would he get penalised or would it just force the umpire to call play on?
then again, i think it would be worth trying 15-16 players on field so what would i know

He'd give it back to Hall.

Having seen how pedantic they are about the right person taking the free kick, I assume that they would call it back and have a word with the said Swans player. But seriously, who do you think would try to pinch Bazza's shot at goal.

When Baz throws the ball down, it's not play on, it's incorrect disposal and the opposition should get a free kick.

Maybe, but what if he's signaled that he's shooting for goal? Plus, if you mark, you have a window to do some 'housekeeping'. That is, you'll notice that when Bazza drops the ball, he always does something, namely fixing up his shoes and socks. That's not play on. 50m would apply if an opposition player picks it up. If a teammate picks up the ball, they'd have to hand it back as they didn't take the mark. If Bazza hands the ball to a teammate ("can you hold this while I pull up my socks" then it's play on.

                              IMHO
Captain, I am detecting large quantities of win in this sector
