Good victory to the Swannies! 14.17.101 to 7.11.53

The forwards (Hall, O'Loughlin, O'Keefe, Grundy) played very well and clearly beat their defenders. Disposal machine Patrick Bowden only had 14 disposals and much like the rest of the Richmond side, were clearly outplayed and outpossessed. Jolly rucked well against Simmonds and kept him scoreless. Their forward line was clearly beaten with Richo scoreless. Phillips had a pretty good debut with 12 touches and 1 goal 3 behinds (all posters).

So far this round we have the 2nd highest percentage (119.21%) and Richmond's have fallen to 84.25%. We're also 6th on the ladder now but will only remain there if the Saints lose (unlikely...).

The road home to the finals look much better now and there's still hope for a top 4 finish if we win games and other games go our way.

                  Grundy was fantastic.

Although I would like to mention Phillips. Has a lot of pace, worked up the ground again tonight and KNOWS where the goals are.

1 Goal and 3 behinds, all of which were posters shows that it was just a bit of an unlucky day.

But he was THERE at the foot of every marking contest. In the 2nd half this payed off.

I don't think we quite have another player who did it to such effect. Had he kicked 4 goals everyone would be speaking about him like Grundy.

                  A genuine quick crumber.
                  Worth a mention.

An encouraging effort without getting carried away. Opposition fairly ordinary. The "disposal machine" Bowden was actually not playing, so his lesser brother didn't get some easy stats!
Grundy a great debut, Philips encouraging, still not sure that Richards is a better bet than say Vogels in the same role. Malceski a bit in & out IMO, but his "in" was impressive...what a penetrating kick he has. Good to see MOL kick well, & Barry getting plenty of ball.

Not a bad team performance overall tonight. Good to see a win and a boost in percentage on the board. Well done to Grundy and Phillips, hopefully they will get a few more seniors games this season.

Amazing, that young bloke Phiilips who has replaced Davis in the side ran hard, got himself to contests and generally harrased the Richmond defenders while the ball was in the forward 50.

You don't need to be Einstein to see the difference.

Showed just what the side has been lacking recently.

P.S He now just needs to be a bit more sure handed when approaching the ball and know he does have time to do something with it.

Vogels just does not have the tank IMHO to play second ruck. So until the match committee decides to give Shaw a go, bring back Chambers or Doyle can finally make it onto the ground in the seniors Richards will continue to be played.

swans have beaten richmond by a total of 166 points this year- not a bad effort!
grundy looks a real goer and phillips isnt bad either- a bit of stephen milne about him. (without the arrogance or wanker-qualities)
good effort by the boys. micky kicked straight!!! rok had a good game and baz wasnt bad either. all in all a good performance, topped off by the fact that matthews wasnt playing.
and wasnt it great to see kirky get the standing reception he did? firstly when he was in the stretcher and then, when he for some reason, came back onto the bench.
p.s.- the kirk incident was right (i mean RIGHT) in front of me. to tell the truth at first i didnt think it was that bad but then i saw kirky's reaction, he hit the ground, then i saw the replays and well, we all know how much it would've hurt.

Well they will after tonight's performance and I listened to David Murphy and some of his co-commentators pre-match and they virtually said that Davis will not be playing seniors again this year, his cards are marked. I think Grundy might find it harder in ensuing weeks though. Sometimes a first gamer can slip under the radar and without Bowden their defence was stretched. I get the feeling he might be better suited to the smaller ground too.
