IMO every attempt to reinvent Ted will fail...at the moment his non-descript ruck support role means he is running around by himself most of the time. We don't expect him to get the knock out (so we just look for effort) & we don't notice how often he was just finessed out of the way (watch Simmons at least twice on Saturday night)...then he trots off with noone caring & gets an occasional possession. He must think Christmas has arrived early.
Definitely NOT a long term prospect.

He has to learn not to hold onto the other ruckman. He continually did that on Sat Night.

It is fair enough that he does, he gives away height and weight to everyone he matches up on.
Doyle was good in the magoos on Saturday and rucked for a fair chunk of the game (a lot longer than Ted did in the seniors).
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Yeh, nah. But he will give away too many frees, which I'm surprised he didn't give away more on Sat night.

I hope he hopped back in his bubble after the game.

So do I, he was certainly looking bouncy and walking tall (well derrrr) after the game. You could tell that he knew he put in a good game... although Chambers was named in the best... about all Paul did of note was clean up some poor 5'7" butcher from Tugger (which may have been for the best).

the only possible mitigating factor i can see for richards is that he has been thrown all over the place and hasnt been tried in a set position

in the pre season he played ff or chf and played well, also in the bombers game when he was placed at full back he held lloyd goalless for the rest of the match

i would like roos to either play him as a leading forward (although grundy has now taken that spot) or as a key position backman and leave him there for a full match with a specific role

I find it a little odd to see a 6ft4in runner roving to a 6ft3in ruckman.
Be that as it may, Ted in the ruck shouln't have surprised anyone here, bacause it was posted on RWO 3 months ago.

The thing is Roos was prpearing Ted for the ruck a least 2 months before he went there.
It all suggests to me that the Swans coaching staff a remarkable level of forthought ~ in contrast to the hindsight displayed by some commentators.

You mean they worked out they had stuffed their pre-season planning for the ruck division for 2006 and planned ahead for the bandaid solution they are now implementing?

What else could they do in the pre-season other than pick up the one ruckman available and try to poach an unavailable one?

Have a look outside the AFL?

he is trying hard but we can not be a serious challenger in the finals with teddy as the 2nd ruckman

                            Fair enough. Maybe they did?

I assume they would, but that would suggest that they think Chambers is in the top (say) 40 ruckmen in the country and I find that hard to believe.

I am guessing that most of the decent ruckmen in the VFL, WAFL and SANFL are already on AFL team lists or wouldn't have made our seniors this year any more than the junior ruckmen on our list have.

                                Besides, he's ranked 24 here.
