if the eagles were based in melbourne

i was recently thinking about how much i hate the eagles and thought of the proposition that if they were based in Melbourne, would they be such a good team? it seems they mainly get their wins because of the theory that it's impossible to beat the eagles in perth, which teams probably worry about and start to believe it when they go over there. i'm not saying the AFL should relocate the eagles or something like that, im just being hypothetical here.

When you have a ground that is significantly different in size, that should be an advantage. Home crowd helps too. Sounds a little like the Swans at the SCG doesn't it?

Bottom line. They are a good team.

I'm not really into the travel factor in terms of how long it takes to get there considering some of the travel schedules of other sports in europe and North America for instance. You could be onto something with the mental thing.

Most overrated team in the league. Cant win away from home, and dont have a forward line. How you can expect to win games with Lynch, Chick and Sampi up there? Some great players in there, but 22 players working together will beat 12 any day.
      - Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in a world they've been given, than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact, it's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration, it's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing!

They are unreal when they get to read the West Australian on game day, saying how wonderful they all are. Their supply of Glen Jakovich baby oil never runs out at home.

When they have to read the Telegraph or Herald Sun & are not the mere mortals they think they are, they get all sad lonely & sorry for themselves. And they play utterly crap!

They have great individual players in the midfield, but apart from maybe Wirrapunda in defence they are decidedly average in both defence and (especially) their forward line. Why do you think they have to send Wirra & Hunter down there all the time to bail their forward line out?

I actually went for the Pies watching the game. Yes, I HATE them that much!

Yep, their midfielders are awesome but that alone doesn't deserve a premiership or even a home qualifying final. They need real forwards, Brad Smith was unfortunate to miss another season due to injury and they're lacking a crumbing forward pocket that Matera played so well until retirement. The loss of Hunter should and will hurt them badly, not only is he useful as a centre half-back but also a good kick for goal. Not even the umpires will save them when they take on the Adelaide Crows at Subi...
I only support one team: The SYDNEY SWANS!!!!! :adore

I hope Adelaide smash them! Yep, even McLaren wont be able to save them.
