One of the best things about that article is that he doesn't sound like he's thinking of moving on anywhere soon.

It'sa the hunger of young guys like this that should keep us near the top of the ladder and hopefully winning another flag or two in the next ten years.

Glad he's back. Has the makings of something more than a good player.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Sure is, even my Dad, who doesn't say much about the young guys has been really impressed with him.

How good is his field kicking. Some of his pin point 50 metre passes in the Tigers game were a delight. Its been a while since I've seen a Swan able to kick that accurately over distance.
..And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

Hey, all. First post. I'm excited.

Big Al mentioned his field kicking, which is very good. But the first thing that really struck me about Mal was his decision making. His composure is very good in-close, especially with the hand-pass.

He seems to have a lot of time when he actually doesn't. Which is a key indicator that his footy sense is pretty acute.

And to hear him say he'd love to be a leader at the club is just music to my ears.

"Hard at it".....I think he is fantastic but he aint no Paul Kelly. Makes me realise we have had our levels of hard-at-it raised far too high by the Wagga Wonder

I agree with that, I think he's already a great leader and when we finally go back to a one Captain system, I'd like to see Goodes then Malceski.

I remember Mal's first game. It was round 11 2005 and it was against Carlton at the phone dome in Melbourne. Some highlights:

                      * He started the game on the ground around half forward.
                      * He kicked a goal with his first kick in the first quarter.
                      * At the beginning of the last quarter, with the game in the balance, Mal was playing in the centre, and his influence in the middle was enough to turn the game our way.

All in all it was not a bad debut.
