    Crystal Ball.

    Hi all..............

Hey. My niece has just hit us with a bombshell. She is getting married on 23/9/06 and the reception is Footy time. Now this is the Saturday before the Grand finale. Could you guys work out which position on the ladder teams at that time (Not Teams themselves) would be playing that night? If you know what I mean? As in, 1st v whatever!!

    Hope I`m making sense here.

Saturday night would be 2nd v 4th (or equivalents).

Would that be like the Swans v Saints game last year?

Last year the Saints v. Swans was equivalent to 1st v. 3rd, so was on Friday.

The way I think of it is that the top team gets to play Friday night in the preliminary final as they get an extra day's rest.

In the first week of finals, in one qualifying final 1st plays 4th and in the other qualifying final 2nd plays 3rd.

So for 2005 it was Adel v. Stk and WC v. Swans.

The winner of the first final becomes defacto 1st and the loser 4th, and the winner of the second final becomes defacto 2nd and the loser 3rd.

So for 2005, it became StK 1st and Adel 4th, WC 2nd and Swans 3rd.

In the preliminary finals the roles are reversed (relative to the qualifying finals) so that 1st plays 3rd and 2nd plays 4th.

So for 2005 it was StK v Swans, which was the Friday night game, and WC v. Adel which was the Saturday game.

Hey..you are making sense to me....refer to the drunk and irrational thread.

The local Priest here tells the story of a Wagga wedding where the brother of the bride was a Sydney Swans player and it was safely assumed that it was a good time to have a wedding in finals time.

          Year 1996.
          Name Kelly.

The wedding was spent in front of the TV watchng Plugger kick the winning point.

And I was mad at my cousin for putting his wedding on during the regular season! Now that I think about it, I'm VERY glad it was in May rather than September!

              I think this is correct:

              1st/4th vs 2nd/3rd/6th/7th
              2nd/3rd vs 1st/4th/5th/8th
