Correct me if wrong. However, I was under the understanding that seeing we stood down and allowed the union to play their game at Telstra on the Saturday night last year (we moved the Brisbane game to the Sunday even though we fixtured it first) that they agreed they would NOT schedule union games in Sydney while a Swans game is on?
I think the deal was if the matches were to be staged on the same night, AFL got first pick but since it was to do with the Bledisloe Cup and Sydney doesn't have the BC matches anymore that might have been scrapped. Then again since the Swans chose to not have the Dons match at Telstra this year, the stadium became available and the ARU snapped it up for the Tri-Nations match.

Yes Rok I heard it too and thought "what the" - MMM have got it wrong.
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

Essendon have won two games this year. If the AFL/Sydney got the choice they probably reasoned that it wouldn't be financially viable to have a 70,000 seat ground when only 35 - 40,000 would turn up at most.
But then, the fixture was made at the start of the year so I think I just shot my own theory in the proverbial.
