Have we capitalised on the premiership?

I'd say "no". We havent used the flag to really expand the support of the club.
Sure ratings are up, and membership too. But we havent had many sell-outs, and the TV ratings are not up to 200K which is where I'd expect them.
We arent really getting much action in the print media either.

Compare this to the late 90's and we've never reached those heights again.

I think our totally closed door approach to the media doesnt help.

What do you expect the sydney media is crap when it comes to the Afl.Given the fact that practicly no state schools play AFL that dosent help, about the only schools that play AFL are the private schools, and where do most kids go public schools.Hence not enough exposure.
Now this is a thread that i would expect on the ego -centric, wank session that is redandwhiteonline.com...

Sometimes except for the big $$$$ the effect the premiership win had on the NSW market is hard to quantify.

The school I work at in Nth Western Sydney, there has certainly been a huge raise in the interest of the Swans since last September. More people are talking footy in the staffroom, even the AFL non-believers and more importantly there are a lot more children kicking AFL footies in the playground!

Just today when I was on playground duty one year 2 boy came up and asked me who was the Sydney Swans' captain? I explained that we had 3 etc etc. He smiled and trotted off to kick his footy.

In little ways, the game has progressed but yes we need to translate this more to grassroot participation.

I would have liked to have seen our marketing dept put more emphasis on highlighting the fact that we are reigning premiers and reminding the Sydney public of that fact...Sydney do love a winner of course.

I think they should have also used the "bloods' tag more in Sydney, instead they seem to have chosen to make more a Melbourne fan base thing (membership pack for instance)...I know a few League types that think we should be using that a bit more to help the marketing to the Westie types that aren't too excited about supporting a team called the "swans'!! (mind you rabbitohs, roosters and eels seem fine to them lol)

Seriously, I reckon the weather in Sydney through winter has had a big impact. Its been the coldest, wettest winter for many years and people living in Sydney hate cold and wet.

I hate to say it, but I think the style of play we are famous for, probably dosn't help a great deal. I don't care, winning is more important, but if we had a team that played like say the Bulldogs I think we would see a bigger attraction.

To hope that the club is capitilising on the premiership win which was not even a year ago is hardly living in the past.

When I was playing footy at a rep level I remember one the people saying it takes 5-10 years to see the effects on the premiership.

The kids who watched us win that grand final and will want to play Aust football.

They then go through the ranks, more kids more talent. And then up to rep level (where the quality is better) and then we start to see an influx of talented kids. And that will filter through NSW/ACT.

This will filter to their friends, and family and so on.

They will either play or be supporters. I think if it works out we'll be playing a lot more games at Telstra Stadium

It will be in 5-10 years time, we will find out if we capitalised.

Hard to capitalise on it at a grassroots level when the grassroots are never allowed to play.

We're not competing against Rugby League, Union or Soccer, we're up against Sydney Councils.
And we don't have a snowflakes chance in hell until they pull their heads out of their arses.
"It's up to the rest of the players in the room to make a new batch of premiership players next year," Adam Goodes, triple Bob Skilton Medallist, October 7, 2011.
