The thing that annoys me more than chit-chat is being told to "calm down! It's only the first quarter" when venting my frustration with "how did they let that happen?" easy Bomber goal. And I sit in the M A Noble MEMBERS stand.

And if YOU are reading this you stupid woman don't worry I won't be sitting near you again, so you won't have to hear my CHEERS for the Swans and scolding of the umpires. Honestly, why go to a sporting event if you don't want anyone anyone to talk above a whisper!

I agree with you Schneidergirl. I also sit in the Noble and sometimes it feels like you are at the ballet rather than a Swans match.
If people want to catch up over a chardonay or latte they should go to a bar, not a football match. If you go to the football, watch the game and don't complain if people are loud or abusive.

I agree with whoever didn't agree with the guy who started the thread.

I hate, HATE it when people sit practically on your lap - anyone who's sat on the Noble will know how close those seats are - and proceeds to chat through the whole game. We had a couple of guys sitting next to us last year who arrived late, asked us to shift seats "if you could just move along we can all sit together" so that Mr K and I would have a lovely pillar obstructing our view (we declined their offer after pointing out we get to the game two and a half hours before it starts to avoid that exact predicament) and then talked constantly about one guy's business trip to Albury. It was scintillating stuff, and his mate couldn't get enough of it.

Why go to the footy if you're going to ignore it? If you're watching the game and occasionally chatting during lulls, fair enough. But these guys weren't paying any attention to what was going on out on the ground. Why not go to a pub or cafe if you just want to catch up? Or go stand up in the bar where you're not annoying me.

It seems to be there is probably 3 different types of supporters by all responses here.

Each group should be segregated from one another with annual relegation and promotion between sections - all decisions handled by the FRP (Fan Review Panel)

Section 1 : Those that will only ever talk football or concentrate on football 100%

Section 2 : Those that will mostly talk football or watch the game, but are inclined to discuss other matters, much to the chagrin of Section 1.

Section 3 : Those who will hardly ever talk football and whose main reason for attending is socialising

Any takers to head up the FRP?

Technically general conversation during a game is un-Bloodslike as it demonstrates less than 100% commitment to the team

i don't really see this as being a football problem. i can't stand listening to long conversations between others whether it's at the football, on a bus or in a lecture theatre. i don't have a problem with what they say, just how long they say it for and how loudly.

equally, i like people yelling and clapping in support of their team, up until it becomes mindnumbingly repetitive and boorish. subjective i know, but i don't think morons are the model fan that we should be emulating.

I remember the question being asked a few years ago why people who are registered don't post. This reply is one of the reasons. It doesn't take long, usually no more than a page, for posts to start getting personal.

If so call "Noobs" discover this site they will surely be given the feeling of not being welcome. Given the media profile this site has (which folks here fall over themselves to point out) plenty of "Noobs" have ventured here, posted, and no doubt been turned off by their fellow Swans fans - and possibly even Australian Football.

Aren't we interested in promoting the game to all of Sydney - whether "Noobs", or if they fall into the category of Section 1, 2 or 3?

I don't have a problem with people talking at the footy because I'm usually yelling to loud with insightful repartee to hear if they were anyway.

I usually find that there is no one in front of me by the end of the first quarter also, which is good if you have some boofhead plant their noggin right in front.

If the match is boring, I can understand people having a natter but if it's flowing nicely, then save it for the break!
