            I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline

                        Don't know what the official classification is, but it is attached to part of Indonesia (West Papua) which is certainly asia, so I would've agreed with Sanecow.

                          Once West Papua becomes independent, they'll be considered to be a part of Oceania, although geographically speaking it's part of Oceania (Melanesia). Check an atlas, I'm sure PNG is a part of Oceania (or Australiasia, or whatever...).
