    Dr Jolly

37 hitouts. Sensational effort by the Doc, and it must be especially pleasing doing it against White.

totally agree. everyone talks about white, cox, simmonds and lade (lade is justified though) about being the best ruckmen in the afl but no-one talks about good old joz. he leads hitouts and totally outclassed a so-called top ruckman today. keep up the good work doc!

A fortnght ago he was getting bagged here. The reason he leads hit outs is because of Chambers (Jolly has contested more hit outs this year than any other ruckman). He had a good game today and is running into form. He is in the second tier of ruckman in the AFL, but not up there with Cox or Lade. Simmonds and White are better too, over a season IMO. If he puts together 6 or 7 good games in a row though now, that means diddly squat though...

yep he probably needs to do a little more around the ground - other than that he's going well and doyle* coming in now will just help him even more come september

He just doesn't come close to them on work around the ground, have a look at the difference in disposals below.
            Jolly vs. that lot

I think Darren is vastly improved this year and is proving to be an excellent trade for that 1st round draft pick- and he is still pretty young. I am willing to concede (how big of me ) work around the ground to him as I think he is probably directed to drop behind play a bit to conserve energy for the massive workload he has. Doyle in is going to help him greatly, if Stephen can stay healthy I expect him to start to steal a few more minutes off Darren (which might hurt Darren's HO stats but increase his ability for around the ground work).
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

I thought he did extremely well in the hotouts today, though at the game it hard to tell how many he actually won. 37, on top of 44 last week, is an excelent return. The big improvement was his marking at critical times. He took 2 or 3 marks in defence that he'd would've dropped a few weeks ago.

              I was very impressed.

OT. I also enjoyed Donks return, some good marks, or attempted marks and his run (jog) up the wing was great to see.

He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Just realised how the Dr Jolly quip came about, in watching the replay at about the 13th Min os 2nd Qtr at the centre bounce.

Goldspink is really looking for a media job after his umpiring days are over.

After his career ends, Goldspink should audition for a role as a James Bond villain. He's got a good name for it, all he needs now is to own a cat or small dog.

Yes.... If you are Aaron Sandilands! I'm not sure what would constitute a 'small' dog to Goldspink, but one thing is certain, it won't bark

Somehow I don't think a James Bond villain trying to use a Labrador as a lap dog will work. It has to be a cat or lapdog so the villain can have a pet sitting in his lap while describing his evil plans for world domination. A Labrador is too tall and would block the shot.
