    Travelling supporters

Were any other Sydney based supporters surprised at the number of Swans supporterd travelling to and from Melbourne last Saturday? There was loads of red and white in Sydney airport on Saturday morning, the Qantas Clubs at Sydney in the morning and Melbourne in the evening almost resembled post and pre match functions and the 8.30pm flight back to Sydney on Saturday night looked as though it had been chartered by the club (included half the team too). It was all good to see and was what I'd expect during finals rather than home and away.

I was on that flight too. Was a nice touch by the chief steward to congratulate the team on its win over the tannoy at the start of the flight.

Even on my flight home on the Sunday night there were a few red and white garments on display. Twas a big weekend for travel by the sounds of it.

It was great, on the Saturday 7:00am Sydney to Melbourne QANTAS flight, the captain said over the PA, "Welcome to Melbourne and all the best to the Sydney Swans today!"

          Swannies for life!

I was on the 715am Virgin Blue flight, and there were quite a few of us onboard. Coming back on the 815pm flight, there weren't too many of us, probably about 15 or so. We were outnumbered by a group of Chinese tourists.
I have been on that 830pm flight twice, and the guys were always last to board. I've noticed that they have upgraded the plane to a 767 now, but when I was on that flight last year, it was a small 737, but was never full. Both times the head FA has welcomed them onboard over the Intercom, and once congratulated them, with little acknowledgement from the passengers.
Does anyone know what flight they get home on a Sunday after a Sat night game??
Now I only fly Virgin Blue, so I miss out on seeing the guys.

I had this weekend booked, until Deathstar cancelled my flights
I got my money back, and decided to go to last weeks game instead. Looks like I made the right decision.

My dad was on both your flights! And I was on the 8.15 one! The guy sitting next to me wasn't wearing gear but was down for the game too :P

Bloody Kardinia Park is a relic. Last time I went there was no Doug Wade stand, so I had no idea where I was sitting this time. A check of Ticketmaster tells me that the Reg Hickey Stand has picked up it?s foundations and shuffled across to the Moorabool St wing and the Doug Wade stand has replaced it.. Even though God retired years ago they can apparently still create miracles down there.

Seriously I like the place for it?s nostalgic value ? a reminder for us oldies of how it used to be. There is still some genuine standing room at the Ablett end and where else can you find a Mr Whippy van parked behind the stands.

I?ll see you Swantastic, I got Bay6 G9. Swans fan you are fine in Bay 37 ? you will be next door to the CS.

There were no other swans supporters sleeping in their cars at the rest stop outside Wodonga... at least, none that I saw.
