If we win our remaining games (and I really think we should), it seems likely that Freo might drop the game v West coast and/or Melbourne should drop at least one of Geelong (at Skilled) or Adelaide (at AAMI). There's every chance we'll be comfortably back in 3rd or 4th by the end of the season. Crisis averted.
Top four still likely.

But will still need to beat Brisbane & Carlton which we should do.

If everyone could cast their eyes forward over the draw, they would have known that 3rd or 4th despite the loss to Geelong was always going to be the case.

If we can get the accuracy back into our disposals these games will be handy. If we are complacent like in the Cats game, we will lose like fools.Last edited by Eala ?ireann; 20 August 2006, 06:14 PM.Ar aghaidh chun bua 2007!Comment

It assumes that we win both of the last two games and either Freo or Melbourne drop one of their last games for fourth or they both lose for third. Probability suggests that should happen, but it doesn't mean it will.
Winning against Geelong, as we should have done, would have meant that all we needed to do was win the last two and we had third wrapped up.
This was meant to be part of improving our performance further in the run-up to finals. However, yesterday's game was reminiscent of the abysmal football of earlier in the year.Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

At the same time, it was good we got a tuff hit-out rather than another half-hearted opposition. We didn't exactly cover ourselves in glory under the pressure but really it was the skill level not the intensity that let us down. We'll get better...I hope.

If last year was labelled the "lucky premiership", and lets be honest it was in some ways. We never dominated the comp, and had to win two finals by less than a goal to get the flag.
Then if we win in 2006 it should be named the "bungling premiership". We fall into by doing the best to stuff it up.
Top 4 is another such scenario.Comment

The footy world would be shaking their heads in disbelief if we pulled this one off(2006 Prem).

This was the last opportunity we had to establish our credentials prior to the finals. It has been lost.
Not to say we cannot win from here, but we had the chance to keep our fate in our own hands but threw it away because some players just didn't bother turning up on the day.He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.Comment

The number of times they ran to the back of the centre square, but instead of going straight up the guts with the wind they went sideways to the dead side of the ground.
How many times did they kick over a leading forwards head on a 15 metre pass, with the wind mind you, so there is always a big chance the kick will go long. You know when you kick long with the wind it takes the opposition at least 3 clean possessions and kicks to get it back to where it started.
Sometimes I think we lack something upstairs. We seem to struggle in the wet and yesterday seemed to have no idea how to handle a strong wind.Comment
