    contract troubles

    Jason Johnson & Dean Solomon have both been offered a one year deal but are both refusing to take it, Solomon might end up taking it according to his manager stating that Soloman's form this season has been abit of a concern & essendon have quite clearly laid the cards out on the table over that but Johnson is demanding a 2 year deal or else his packing his bags.

    I wouldn't mind having Johnson at the swans, his form this season hasn't been all too flash but has been clouded by a few injuries, has hit some form in the past few weeks.

    Would you want him in the red & white in 2007?

      Nothing against either of those players but what would they add to a Sydney team?

                  I don't agree with that rule

                  We got Super Ted from them and look how he is turning out

                  He will be a good player in the future once he can establish himself in the top grade

                              Two or three years ago I'd have loved Solomon at the Swans. At his best he brought controlled aggro to the Bombers' backline, something we probably still lack. Good players though they are, Bolton, Barry, Kennelly, LRT etc all lack that intimidating, in-your-face aggression that can be really valuable - ala Hall at the other end of the ground.

                              At the moment he looks a shadow of the player he was just a few short years ago. Maybe he's carrying an injury. Maybe the speed of the game is just too much for him now. Earlier this year, either Walls or Sheehan (can't remember which) described him as a 26yo playing like a 32yo. I don't always agree with their comments (indeed most of the time I don't) but in this instance I think whoever it was was spot on.

                                  I think every player has an in-built use by date. It's not anything to do with a certain age. some players are gone at 22 or 24 years of age, others are gone at 34. Once their body can't handle it, that's it. Regardless of their ages both these players fall into the "body can't take it anymore" category.

                                  And I don't agree with bagging Teddy. He's filled a "spare parts" role well. Probably better than most expected.

                                                  Yep agree with you on the players named in your first paragraph.

                                                  They were incredibly soft in the Grand Final. LRT was ordinary after half time, Craig Bolton really struggled to keep his man to no goals and Kennelly really lacked run off half back particularly in the last few tight minutes. Leo Barry's mark was truly a fluke.

                                                  Controlled agro - surely was missing, no reports - too much self discipline for mine.
