has anyone else noticed, that if adelaide concedes 40 points more than sydney, (that is, melbourne scores 40 more than carlton), then sydney will end up with the best defence (lowest points against), i know this isnt a really big thing, but last yr we were second, and if we become first this yr, it's really showing our improvement since last yr
has anyone else noticed...

We have one of the best defences because we stop our opponents from playing. We are the stoppage kings.
Our forward line is only 7th highest scoring.Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

going into the finals i think this is a very important stat. We won a grand final on the abilty of our defencewww.fuselive.com.auComment

We also won on the inability of the opposition to kick goals.Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

which comes back to our defence, we cant really use the 7th highest attack as a measure of our lack of attack, if we look at our percentage, it is 2nd in the league only to adelaide
another interesting stat. since roos took over, sydney 2002 - bottom 8
2003 - 3
2004 -5
2005 - 3
2006 - 5???Comment

However, why can't we use 7th as indicative of our lack of scoring?Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

It does matter because you can go periods of time when you can't score. This can lose you matches or put you in a position that is close when you should have locked away the game already.Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

But seriously, we are 7th in scoring because of our game plan, not our forwards. Our forwards arent dazzling like they have in the past, but we still have one of the top 3 forward lines in the comp.Comment

I agree. I think both our game plan and our forward structure (which is part of the game plan) mean we don't score. I think this is a key weakness of our team (and makes for boring football) and fails to take advantage of one of our key strengths.Comment
