As we are playing Carlton on Sunday arvo I think its unlikely that we would have to front up to Adelaide on Friday night after only a five day break. I think that the club would be justifiably furious if the AFL made that decision.

"Added to that, all sides must be given a minimum six-day break going into the finals series, which will exclude any match involving Sydney or Collingwood (which both play on Sunday in the final home and away round) being played on the Friday night of week one."
Um, WTF!? Why are there rules for Sydney & Collingwood & rules for everyone else?

Is it because these two teams rate the best in the AFL?

I can FORGET being able to get to Adelaide on a Friday night!

It said in the article that would deifnately not happen. Sydney and Collingwood playing on Sunday MUST have a 6 day break minimum prior to their first finals match.

No dramas JF, it said it would 'exclude' Sydney and Collingwood from playing on the Friday night. Definately will not happen mate.

I infer that that means that they will waive the 6 days players union agreement because Sydney & Collingwood rate so well on Friday nights.

Man, I HATE this time of the year. My work hates for for calling in sick because I lost my voice after the Socceroos match the other night as it is; asking for a Friday off with less than a week's notice is nigh on a pipedream.

Yeah probably Saturday afternoon for Adelaide actually.

                      Correct.

If it's as JF quoted EXACTLY then it seems to say that we might be excluded from the 6-day break rule, but given the generally crap use of the English language these days I'm willing to guess that they've simply put a comma in the wrong place (i.e. there shouldn't be one after "Collingwood"). That and the AFL would probably leave themselves open to a legal challenge is they didn't abide by their own 6-day rule.

Which would tend to mean we are less likely to play them.

The AFL seems to have clarified the earlier confusion

"Added to that, all sides must be given a minimum six-day break going into the finals series, which will exclude any match involving Sydney or Collingwood (which both play on Sunday in the final home and away round) being played on the Friday night of week one."
                              From the Swans website.
