    Hooray!/Tear! (Stafford Retires)

...because Stafford has announced his retirement, along with fellow Tiger Mark Chaffey. Their farewell game is against West Coast on the weekend.

A decision on the future of other 'elderly' players such as Andrew Kellaway and Darren Gaspar will be made in the offseason.

A game against Richmond just wont be the same without the Staff.

if Stafford retires - who will spend all their time bending over 'tying their shoe laces' in front of their opposing man?

and will that mean i'll have to stop my you're softer than stafford's mum call?

What is the bet that his stalker will retire from her 'activities' as well.

I was just thinking the same thing. When your profiles down, lift it by getting stalked.

In fact I blame Stafford for much of the arguing on RWO. His pathetic performances led to many of us booing and this resulted in the many fights on RWO about how some of us could boo a swans player.

Stafford with his mega ego was the first and last player of have ever booed in the red and white. Not because I have changed my ways but because no one else has been so pathetic or should I say apathetic for the swans.
In memory of my little Staffy - Dicey, 17.06.2005 to 1.12.2011- I'll miss you mate.

Never saw any sign of a mega ego from Stafford. If you're looking for mega egos in the AFL I can think of plenty of other examples, one or two at the Swans. And I think many confused Staffords laconic approach to life in general with an apathetic approach to footy. I think the truth is a fair way from that and people quickly forget how good this bloke was from 95 onward, particularly the charge in '96 and through to '98.

For a bloke from Ashbury who only picked up the game because he saw it being played pretty regularly on a ground his parents house backed onto, 200+ games at the highest level is a pretty good acheivement.

That's the thing, everybodys judgement about pretty much everything is always based on their most recent memory. He gave the Swans probably 4 pretty good years and maybe 2 crap ones (one of those debatably due to poor injury management).

Bye bye Staff ya big @$%

                        The Staff retires
I didn't realise he was that old.
Stafford, 32, played 130 games for Sydney before being recruited in 2002 by Richmond, where he has played 73 games.
I didn't realise he played that many for the Toigers either.

Despite all the anti Staf sentiments I have to say I had a soft spot for the big fella. And he was a Sydney boy. Well done Staf, 200 plus games is a great achievement.

I agree. In his peak, he was a great overhead mark in defence - often stopping opposition attacking thrusts.
