What has impressed me about Spriggs is that despite being "out in the cold" so to speak, he has continued to put in each week. Second efforts, chasing etc were very good. Agree that he is neck and neck with Timmy as the best backup midfielder.

Unfortunately it is the latter and not the former. They've been on the end of some hidings from the other teams as well this season. There's been reports that they might quit the Canberra league next year.Comment

If not for the fact that AFL list management is a numbers game (i.e. you are effectively forced to turn over a number of players every year), I would certainly advocate giving someone of Spriggs' obvious professionalism and mental toughness, another year. If the likely (almost inevitable) happens, then a lot of Victorian teams could do a lot worse than to pick him up as a league-ready player who would only cost a late draft pick.Comment

Given the talent that will (allegedly) be on display in the draft, and the unlikelihood of Sydney taking more than 3 picks, could we justify using our 3rd pick (#45-50) on him, or would we be better rolling the dice as to whether we'll get outbid next time, and waiting for 2007?Comment

'Garry' and Injuries
Here is the official Swans report of the game. The good news is that Kieren Jack is now 100% guaranteed to at least get a 2nd year on the rookie list. BOG listing, 2 whole sentences devoted to him, and even a photo. Ugg, while he liked him, didn't have him in our best 6.
But what I wanna know is: where have our players gone?
The team's listed at the end. As Ugg identified, Little Willo, Ryan Brabazon and Torture are all absent, but not listed on the 'current' Swans injured list. (Matt Davis is at least on the sick list, listed as 'test', but obviously he only got 40% in the test b/c he didn't play either.)
If we keep mysteriously losing them at this rate, our squad will look like Brisbane's by the end of the finals. Anyone got the goss?
PS I like the use of the vague "(plus top-up players)". Either the media guy is too lazy to make a single phone call to clarify who they were, or the Swans are planning to draft Craig Bird and they're hoping to keep the fact that he's playing for us on the sly, so as to not attract other clubs' attention.Comment

Ryan Brabazon is on the current injured list - wrist - out for rest of the seasonRed and white till I dieComment

Re: 'Garry' and Injuries
I like Jack, I thought he was one of the better players on the day. You could provide a solid case for his inclusion in a 'best players' list, but this would also apply to at least half the team.
Willoughby was involved in an incident the previous week and another poster suggested he was going to be cited for it. Chambers is the puzzling one, it seems he has disappeared off the face of the earth.
As for the top up players, they were listed as Bird, Conway, Ley and Robbie.Comment

Can you tell me more about Robbie?
All 4 top up players started on the bench. Bird and Conway got the most time while I don't think I even noticed the other two.Comment
