Good to see no McClaren, McInerney or Goldspink (although I dont mind Goldy so much now days).

It could be a fair contest!
    My thoughts exactly.

I am pleased - I can now go to Tamworth knowing that there is a chance that the umpiring will be quite fair for this match - even if I dont get to see the game!
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

That last McLaren Subiaco performance was unacceptable at any level of the game.

His omission should have been more public, obvious and the flogging should have been bloody and painful!

          Harsh - but fair.

Where's Matthew James? He's the best ump by a country mile. Perhaps that's why he's missing!

What a brilliant article. Pity it will not get any coverage here in the West.

The clowns on EFH have read the article and it has some of them worried. Apparently the last time the east coast press printed similar stories they got smashed by the umps. But, their opponent was the filth and Eddie was responsible for the publicity. We can only hope this campaign is as successful.

Even better, while we are happy with the umpire appointments, they are not.

They must be the only fans that like McClaren.

That piece of Nikki?s needs to get published in the HUN, it?s only been in the Tele so far.

If the siren sounds in Tasmania, and the umpires don't hear it, does it make a sound?

Umpires were selected on the basis of their performance over the course of the home and away matches with the top umpires going on to the finals. Also named were the field and goal emergency umpires for the first week. In weeks 2-4 emergency umpire duties will be undertaken by those on the finals panel.

In announcing the panels AFL Umpiring Manager, Jeff Gieschen, noted "The appointments are a fitting reward for performances throughout the home and away season. I would also like to congratulate those umpires who did not make the finals panels. 2006 has been an excellent season for AFL Umpiring and I have been delighted with all umpires commitment and performances through out the year. As a group we are only as strong as our weakest link and I firmly believe all umpires have worked extremely hard to meet all challenges and provide the level of performances required at the AFL level."
