Go Hard Cressa...but it still doesn't mean i'll lose my utter hate for Geelong.
Cressa Targets Bomber

This is a very bold move. It would be a big mistake on both Geelong and Cressa's part for him to already have a 'whisper deal' to become the new Cats coach. See: Grant Thomas and St Kilda. Once the whispers get out (and the whispers always get out), your entire coaching career is dogged by accusations of nepotism.
So, it seems he's just wandering off on a smile and a shoe-shine. Has no-one told him that there's no rule against applying for a senior job from an assistant coach's position? What the hell is he going to do next year if Thompson stays, or he doesn't get the job?
Not apply for a job with Carlton, I hope. Then I really would lose all faith in humanity. -
I also found it a bit weird that he would quit like that after 2 years. Unless he has something lined up, that would be 2 different clubs in 3 years of coaching (isn't it?) - seems a bit risky to go job hunting in that position.
Even weirder is if he did have a senior job in the bag at this point.
Well, good luck to Cressa - one of my favourite players of yesteryear. :-)Comment

Nepotism? Who's he related to at Geelong?Originally posted by SimonH

Otherwise I agree - if he hasn't got something lined up, at Geelong or elsewhere, he runs the risk of ending up scratching around looking for a cut-rate assistant's position. Not the way to go.He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)Comment

Well, sort of. He did have 12 months as assistant coach there, and i think may have been training there before being drafted, but my mind is a bit fuzzy on this.Originally posted by dimelb
