    How would we cope?

I was talking to a local from Seymour about local footy the other day. He was telling me that Seymour (who are the reigning premiers in the Goulburn Valley Football League) went for 4 weeks during the season where they had 16 out of their best 22 players out injured. They went from winning games easily to being beaten by 100 points almost every week out of those 4. When the injured players returned, they started winning and are now competing in the finals.

How would any senior AFL team cope with that amount of injuries?

The same - they would lose.

You'd have to bite your tongue and try and weave some magic out of their reserves.

The real issue at play is that this would represent the ultimate test of how good your coach is. Success would simply mean fielding a team that's competitive.

Win games, and you have one hell of a coach, that's for sure.
Captain, I am detecting large quantities of win in this sector

refer to the roosters this year, 75% of the team out and coming second last I think showed just how the team couldn't cope.

But all their best players were playing at Newtown each week. Jamie Soward, Tonga, John Doyle.,Stewart (and his puppeteer the evil Phil Gould) would never blood the kids.

You ask The Undertaker whether he is pleased that Stewart is gone at the Roosters! He is wrapped!

The situation there has more to do about in-club politics & disharmony than injuries to be honest.

yeah I know the policitics and bad attitudes within the club had a lot to do with it but when the main players are out, def a lesser team

I wonder what the AFL would do if a team simply ran out of fit players - less than 22 even with all the reserverves and upgraded rookies? Would they allow a club to top up from elsewhere in such circumstances? One would hope so.
