West Coast and Adelaide are both in the same side of the draw now. Means that we wont have to play at least one of them again, and with any luck they will run each other into the ground in the prelim.
And another good thing!

Hopefully "Roo" will play and they will all catch slap cheek!Last edited by Goal Sneak; 9 September 2006, 11:13 PM. -
The good news is that the Freo/Melbourne side of the draw is infinitely better to be in than the Weagles/Clones side.
The bad news is that at this time last year, St Kilda thought, 'We won away in the 1st week, and now we're in by far the easier side of the draw, not having to face Weagles or Clones until the GF'.
We still have to turn up to seriously play a team that will be coming off a win, and throwing everything they've got at us.Comment

Also I don't want to but but I'm going to have to bring up 2003. Lets not get ahead of ourselves yet.
Freo a yet to win a final but before today were playing good football and could still cause us bother in particular with the Prelim set down for the bigger ground of Telstra Stadium, a ground that would suit them better than the SCG were they haven't won since 1996 and of course Melbourne have Neitz to worry us and have beaten us in Sydney both at the SCG and Telstra Stadium in each of the last three seasons, so whoever we play in the Prelim ISN'T going to be such a walkover so lets not get ahead of ourselves like the Saints and Eagles fans do and take whats about to come and hope for the best.Once was, now elsewhereComment

Yes, that worries me. We are in StKilda's position of last year!
After tonight, I'm convinced of the confidence going forward.
THAT's what's gunna make the difference.Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

Yes, and in we're in St Kilda's position from last year too. (Feel like we're going in circles).
Without worrying too much about all those different variations, you'd have to say we're in a nice position now. Melbourne lost to Carlton a couple of weeks ago, and Sydney is fairly well dominant vs Freo in Sydney.
You can never put a preliminary final in the bag, but the 1 point win has made a huge difference to our 2006 premiership chances without a doubt.Comment

I think the best thing is thinking where the other teams are going to have to travel to
Freo will be Adelaide(this wk) - Perth - Sydney!
Melb will be Adelaide(last wk) - Melb - Perth - (do they go home to Melb again mid week training) then Sydney
Looks like a bitch for both of them to me.I will be a member again when I return.Comment

I honestly think, from as an objective point as I can conjure, that Sydney, over the last two years, are the side that no team should come up against thinking that they have half a clue how to beat them.Comment

There will no dud teams in the last four. St Kilda made that mistake.
Freo and Melbourne have our utmost respect, I'm certain of that."It's up to the rest of the players in the room to make a new batch of premiership players next year," Adam Goodes, triple Bob Skilton Medallist, October 7, 2011.
