Watching them leave the ground and in the rooms after the game, you'd think their season was over. Boo Hoo. Pathetic. You get to play again next weak, diddums.
Why the Eagles are pathetic

One wonders whether they are mentally up for the challenge of a run-fest with the Dogs followed by another hard scrap in Adelaide."As everyone knows our style of football is defensive and unattractive, and as such I have completely forgotten how to mark or kick over the years" - Brett Kirk

And the bulldogs looked so fresh as they came off the field yesterday - hardly looked like they'd broken into a sweat, whereas the Eagles looked utterly spent on Sat night. Will be a very interesting match, and I can't wait to watch it!Comment

I think the emotional cost of the loss on Saturday night may be too much for the Eagles.
I think they truly convinced themselves they were a shoe in this year, and last years lost was merely to an inferior team that got lucky. Losing on Saturday night would remind them of that hurt.
They are a great side, but if their minds have started thinking "Oh no, not again", they may be over, because they are playing a side that has nothing at all to lose, and for the Eagles, the road just may look very very long.Comment

From 2005:
However Hall said the Swans' players were still upbeat about their finals campaign as the players got over last night's bruising encounter with a swim in Perth on Saturday morning.
"We can't be sore and sorry for ourselves, we've got to be upbeat and be positive about this week," Hall said.
"We are fairly positive and we put in a good performance so let's not be too down on ourselves."
I recall reading something about Roos talking to the players after the game last year that had more or less the same thrust.Comment

I don't really get why anyone could call them pathetic. They are a great group of footballers. I'd have their top 12-15 in red and white on any day (including Hunter).Comment

I didn't quote you. However, now that you bought it up, I don't think it's pathetic to feel gutted at a loss in a finals series. Like all the recent games between the Swans and Eagles both teams left everything on the field and they now face a hard road to the finals.
