    Roos, Davis and Eade

What do we think of our coaching panel now? They plainly do not have the best list of cattle in this comp but now have negotiated the reigning premiers into flag favouritism. Roos outcoached Worsfold again, they've seemingly engineered aanother great run with lack of injuries going into September, and the young boys are really adding something to last year's champion team.

I still can't belive the Nick Davis fan club turned on Roos this year. Surely you have to trust his judgement and player management now? I even forgive his boring press confererences as something that needs to be done. And the other coaching staff (Jonas, Longmire, Lyon) will surely be snapped up for vacancies at other clubs very soon.

Interesting what Roos said (on the occasion of his contract extension) about the natural life of a coach at a club - the playing group inevitably get tired of your message after 3-5 years. A smart and realistic guy to see that, even when he's at the peak of the coaching roller-coaster.

Which brings us to Rocket Eade. I was really pleased to see his Dogs play with such daring and passion on Sunday. Here is a coach whose message wore thin at the Swans but still had a lot to offer a new team. To get them to play so well on such a big stage, against much more experienced (in finals) opposition, is testament to that.

    Re: Roos, Davis and Eade

Probably one of Roos' best coached games on Saturday night. No Swans coach in history has guided the team to victories in finals in 4 successive seasons. Roos has just done that.

Sure he'll have his detractors because of his style and public persona, and he probably didn't get the best advice in during Davisgate, but what he has achieved has been astonishing. To take over a rabble towards the end of the 2002 season, and to take them past Week One of the finals in every year must be heralded.

Should Roos and captain (actually who will that be ?) lift the cup in three weeks, he his truly on the way to greatness amongst his peers.

Others will continue to take postshots, but we are truly in a golden era, and for that he must take most of the credit.

There's an article in one of the papers that Roos is coaching for a minimum of 3 more years and will consider his future then with retirement a likely option.

Bart, love the avatar. Looks like Micky is taking a bite out of him!

No one doubts Roos is a good coach. His media handling of Davisgate was poor though.
In fact the whole Swans approach to the media is poor IMO. Not doing enough to capitalise on this purple patch of the clubs history.

Roos, like everyone, is not perfect, but he gets the most out of our team so as far as I'm concerned he can stay for a bit longer.
