JF, why even offering anything. The amount of stupid responses you get for such initiative from some RWO'ers proves that you shouldn't even bother.

Yeah im doing the exact same thing, flying into sydney at 10 to 8 friday morning & going back home 6am saturday morning. So it's not worth booking a room for the night, might head down with Simon to the aussie rules club.

You try and do something to help others out & get the @@@@ taken out of you.

Well that kind of sums up my view of RWO a lot of the time these days to be honest.

Maybe if you did not dump @@@@ on people with every post you make, people would be less inclined to dump it back on you.

I like a good fight JF so I would stay on your couch..but I'm not going up to Sydney and I don't think Ulverstone is that convenient to Melb.

P.S. I don't mind Jack Russels either... but show me one that isn't hyper.

I think your barman is no good and probably supports the West Indies, Collingwood and the Williams sisters

I'm going over and am thinking about staying in Parramatta. We stayed there last year to go to the Essendon game but part of the reasoning was that there was racing at Rosehill the same day and thee was a courtesy bus from the races to Homebush.

I thought Parramatta was OK. We will be on Sydney during the following day and wil do some sightseeing. Do the Sydneysiders see a disadvantage in being so far out?

                          Hardly disadvantaged at all.

You can catch a bus from parra to the stadium; or you can catch a train from parra to lidcome & change for the Olympic Park line. Public transport is included in your ticket.

You can catch a river-cat ferry from Parra to take you into the city (it takes about an hour, goes up the parra river & ends up at circular quay in the city ... very nice trip); or you can catch a train and be there in about 20 mins.

Only downside is that you have to catch buses from the city back to parra after about 12.30-1am (?? Don't quote me - I don't "do" public transport). A taxi fare from the city to parramatta is around the $60-70 mark (again, it's been a while since I've been in a cab). Cabbies are such rip off merchants. The city/parra doesn't close down [unlike Perth ]... just the trains.

There is heaps and heaps of restaurants, bars, shopping, etc. in Parra. It's probably a better option ... a bit easier on the "finals budget".

Let me know if you need help, I've live here all my life and am more than willing to help youse out.

Thanks. My main concern was for my daughter and her friends who might want to go out late on Sat night (we're going back on Sunday) in case they want to go the city - its a lengthy train ride back to Parramatta. Unless there is a nightlife in Parra?

Me, I;m going to go the Rosehill races Sat afternoon, have a few beers and will be glad to hit the sack reasonably early. And yes the accommodation is a bit cheaper than the CBD.

YES ... there is a nightlife in Parramatta.
My suggestion for the kids is the Roxy in George Street. It's an old movie house that has been converted into a pub/nightclub.
It's full of the youngins and last time I was there, they seemed pretty reasonably behaved.

IMO i would advise you to stay well clear of Parramatta nightlife.

I believe Afghanistan has current travel warnings about visiting Parramatta
