Who will be our first 300 game player?

With the Bullies West and Smith playing their 300th games this wekend it got me to wondering if we will ever have a club record of over 300 games. Do you think any of the current players will play 200 with the club?

Any suggestions? For me, Goodesy is a possibility.

One would have been tempted to say Crouch but who knows now..maybe a coaching career beckons after his Canberra experience.

Assuming no major injuries, I would have to say Goodesy - only 139 to go!

But if he doesn't make it, then perhaps LRT? He's 23 and on 48 games(I think?), so would need 7 injury-free seasons to make it.
May be a long shot, but given his rapid improvement over the last 2 seasons, I'd expect him to be a fixture in the side for a long time to come!

He needs 161 more games and will be 27 March next year. Even with finals footy every year he'd have to play until 34 / 35. Might be a long shot given his position / style of play.

Definitely over 50, i recall he played his 50th early this year or in last years finals... so he would up towards the 70 mark now... shivers, cant wait for the big 100!

If he played every game this year (and I'm sure he has), he'd be on game number 244 (?)
(According to the swans website, at the end of 2005, he had notched up 222 games plus 22 games this season = 244. Do they count the finals ... then it would be 245.

Micky O would be my pick for the first to 300.

Hard to tell with Micky. He's looking fitter now than at any time during the past few years but I guess his knees could "go" at any time. He could play on for another two or three years but I suspect that when the end comes, it will come quickly.

Depending on fitness, contracts, Roosy's vapours, and anything else they can throw at us, that's the order.

Here is the complete list.

Mick is well and truly the favourite for 300, now sitting on 245 (i.e. he'll make it in 2009 with a reasonable injury run) and just 29 years of age. Adam Goodes (184 games at 26yo) and JBolt (162 games at 26yo) the only other ones with any kind of realistic shot.

You would think that BBBH, Leo Barry, Jared Crouch and Ben Mathews (!) would all be too old to have a chance. Late bloomer Brett Kirk (146) will be lucky to make it to 200 games.

Of the youngsters, Adam Schneider (75 at 22yo) is way out in front. LRT is probably second, being 8 months older than Schneider and having played 5 fewer games.

To state the obvious: it's very very hard to make 300 games. You need 14 seasons more-or-less uninterrupted by injury (or being dropped). That automatically counts out those who are held back a bit: the likes of Jared Crouch (didn't debut until he was 20), Sean Dempster (38 games at age 22) and Nick Malceski (20 games at age 22). And the Swans sure like holdin' 'em back a bit. Unless they're small goalsneaks.
