proud adj 1. feeling pleasure or satisfaction over something conceived as highly honourable or creditable to oneself.

I am not sure that I understand how members of the club can feel pride in its performance. How is it "honourable" or "creditable" to simply be a financial member? Does the performance of the club reflect on us, the members? Please explain.

Geez. Talk about getting caught up in semantics.

I think we all know what is meant when someone says they feel or have pride in a Swans performance.

I don't. That is not semantics, it is the meaning of the word. What does it mean to say that you feel proud of the Swans performance? Would you feel ashamed to be a member if there was a sexual assault scandal within the club?

Perhaps the moment that gave you the greatest joy?
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Do you feel proud of your nephew or best friend or someone you respect when they do something great? Feeling proud of something you feel part of is pretty natural I would have thought.

Maybe you are just happy for them? I don't know, but worrying about the exact meaning of the word 'proud' is pretty pointless.

Any reasonable person would understand and not care.

(And yes, probably would feel ashamed of the club in certain circumstances, what they are I don't know)

            Also:

            11. do one proud, a. to be a source of pride or credit to a person: His conduct in such a difficult situation did him proud.
            b. to treat someone or oneself generously or lavishly: You really did us proud with this supper.
Can't you say, the swans did us proud with that stylish performance, or did the Sydney members proud by coming from behind and stealing a close victory?

My proudest moment was the QF win. I was trying to think of something else that wasn't on the list, but that was such a great win.

My Proudest Moment of the 2006 Season.

Goody Stella: "Jude Bolton says that the best advice he was ever given was 'it is better to leave in an ambulance than to take your eye off the ball'"
                    Stella: "Yeah?"
Goody Stella: "How stupid is that?"
Stella Junior: "Doesn't he know it is just a game?"
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline

Even though ROK Lobster has become an insufferable tool these days, I agree with him in this case.

                        So is it;

That "ROK Lobster has become an insufferable tool"

                        or

                        That "you agree with him"

That has made you 'most proud'

                        I'm confused

Oh right - so he's an "insufferable" tool while I'm merely an "ignorant" tool. Still playing favourites....

                            AA selection.

Honestly ROK do you have to find fault with every thread?
