Well, 20,000 tickets were sold in one day.

That's 7,000 more than was sold on the first day in 2003 when Sydney met the Lions in the PF. That game eventually had 71,019.

Record of 72,393 to be broken perhaps?

Definitely a good start. I'm really hoping we can top 70k next Friday.

The crowd was 60,307 for the game against the Collywobbles in Rd12 this year, so I would certainly hope the figure tops that. Obviously ticket prices may play a part though

Actually they sold more than 30,000 in one day, so they crowd will be big. Let's wait and see when the tickets go on sale to the general public tomorrow.

IMHO a game against the Demons will get a bigger crowd than against Freo.

Demons fans will know that, whatever the result, they won't have to travel again the following week whereas Freo fans will have to decide whether they:

a) are willing (and can afford) to travel twice
b) plan to stay in the East for a week if necessary, or
c) stay home this time and hope they get to the GF.
d) travel this time and watch the GF on TV

Similar to the PF/GF dilemma many of us faced last year, though for Freo fans the costs are much greater.

If it's Freo we play I think the Nullabor will be a purple haze during the week but the total number will not be huge.

If it's Melbourne then the Hume Hwy will be busy. The ski season is well and truly over so I would expect a lot visitors.

I think once the visiting member ticket period is exhausted and they go onto general sale, we will get close to a 70,000 crowd no matter which team.

The Daily Terror is running the "Official Newspaper of the Sydney Swans" everyday on the masthead and giving massive coverage. They hype is in overdrive. This is the type of event Sydneysiders love.....

Yeah, their "official" Swans coverage yesterday while i was waiting in line at ticketek amounted to ONE article, and about 7 pages of thugby league! the terrorgraph gives me the @@@@s!
