Would ROK fit into this equation? Whispers the last couple of years have been that he wants to go home to Melb.

Would hope not considering how much he has achieved here with premiership medal, AA selection and being rated so highly.

      I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

Unlikely he'd have signed a three year contract a year ago if this was the case.

Saw him interviewed a short while ago (maybe when he was being presented with his AA gong?) and he was asked if he thought he was a Swan for life. His answer was the one we all wanted to hear.

We haven't played the GF yet and this chestnut has come out again.

This must have to be the 4th year now that this rumour/lie has been mentioned.

Next, well have Amon rumoured to go back to Melbourne. That would make it the third year for that one.

How about Grant Thomas to replace John Longmire!

            Sydney's next full forward

we have done tremendously well in the past 10 years. One constant is that we always have a great Full Forward (Lockett->Hall). As Hall, O'Loughlin both approach age 30, I think it is time for us to start searching for the next FF.

I think a perfect candidate is Kris Tarrant. We always have a record of transforming disgruntled/stagnant but talented players into superstars, as in the case of Hall, Lockett, Williams, Ball...etc.

I think Tarrant has tons of talent + still relatively young. His down year could possibly make Pies willing to trade him.

It would probably take a big bait for Collingwood to contemplate trading Tarrant. I am wondering if Steven Doyle+draft pick will be enough? After all, pies are after a ruckman.

Anyway, I do hope that we start searching for successors to Hall or O'Loughlin. Better now than later.

So would we be if we traded Doyle. We probably are anyway.

In any case, Collingwood have a very high opinion of Tarrant and if they were looking to trade him, I doubt they'd accept anything less than 2 first round picks - not necessarily top 10 but in the 11-16 range. He may be worth that to a club with a seriously deficient forward line, but not to us.

Tarrant is Eddie Everywhere's and Maltmouth's love child. They'll never let go of the apron strings.

Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

Don't forget we might be getting Spider next year

as for us having a great forward line.. it is true. However, when Barry Hall and Micky both enter their 30's, we will be suddenly 2 forwards short (albeit the best 2 we have).

We got Hall with a 3-way trade involving Greg Stafford (if my memory serves me correctly). Perhaps a similar type of trade can happen this year (e.g. Tarrant , Doyle).

Anyway, this is just my thought.. any other suggestions for our post-Mick/Barry era?

No offence to Doyle, but I don't think he has any trade value whatsoever. Collingwood would not trade Tarrant for a injury-prone ruckman who hasn't played 50 games in 7 years.

complete rebuild? hopefully the club will have the freedom and market support to trade away stars and play kids if that is what is best for the future success of the team.
then again, i think it would be worth trying 15-16 players on field so what would i know

No we don't. The quote by Barham was "you won't find a @@@@head on our list". Thus has grown the myth of the no @@@@heads policy.

This is becoming so boring, it's not even funny anymore. Why Tarrant and who is he suppose to replace? Why is it that Sydney is always linked to some troublemaking player that needs another home. What are we? A rehab clinic?

                                why tarrant?

Because he is the most probable talent who is still reasonably young that might be on the trade table

who is he supposed to replace?

barry hall or Magic O'Loughlin when any of them retire or starts to decline
