Michael O'Loughlin close to club games records

Last night was Michael O'Loughlin's 246th game for the club and his 16th final. This is significant because in both cases he is close to breaking club records.
    • The record for most club finals is 17, currently held by Vic Belcher.
    • The record for most club games is 260, currently held by John Rantall.
When Magic plays in the Grand Final, he will tie the record for club finals with his 17th finals match. If Magic has a good year next year and plays in more finals, both club records will be his.

And to think he missed our finals in 2003... he could have had 2 more!

I also heard that his 247th will be a Sydney (not SM) games record, surpassing Mark Bayes. Well done Michael.

        Great Stuff!

Let's hope that Magic can equal the club finals record on a great note with a win next week!

So that means he currently is equal holder of the Sydney record. Well done indeed!

If his knees don't give up on him he'll reach 300th game in a couple of years. I'd like to see that.

What a pick up from the 95 Draft. Pick number 40 was it for a skinny 17 year old who always intended in going back to Adelaide after 2 years at the Swans.

                Awesome stuff Magic!

What have the fitnesss team been feeding him on? The Elixir of Youth? He's been skipping round like a colt this season, and especially the finals. I'd like some of what he's having.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Mick must be in danger of getting in the next "Team of the Century" or whatever it will be called.

He is an all-time champ of the club now and deserves a lot of admiration.

'94 draft and pick 39, but I'm splitting hairs Jeffers, you're other points are spot on.

The amazing thing is he has been fitter this year than any time in the past 4 or 5. The last 2 years at least he has not warmed up with the team 40 minutes before the game (presumably just getting rubbed and doing stratches to get him thru the game). This year he has been in the warmup every week.

Seriously, his form in the past 2 months has been absolutely brilliant.

Mind you, his game in the GF last year has been harshly marked by many (not here necessarily). His last quarter in the GF was actually sensational in respect of getting the ball. He tore Chick a new butthole taking 3 or 4 contested marks, normally enough to actually take the game apart single handedly. Unfortunately he got the yips with his kicking and as a forward I suppose that is a disaster, but my point is, bar his kicking, his game was pretty bloody good.

I'm glad someone else has mentioned this because I try to point it out as well. He seems alot more confident in his kicking this year and is kicking a good 5-10m longer as well compared to last year, so it all points to good things for next week.
