    Bandwagoners

Now normally I say come one come all to the Swans matches, and still I do but I heard one comment last night (other than "what the @@@@ is kick-to-kick") that is worth repeating. Well, it was a string of comments but a fellow bus passenger gave me a giggle when s/he complained of:

    some of the "penalties";

    the "referees"; and

the people sitting nearby who did not seem to have much knowledge of the game.

    It was a gem.

ROK ... Telstra Stadium members are a disgrace.
I was the only one screaming in my bay. I have totally lost my voice (much to my family's delight!!). I better get it back before next week. I stood up at qtr time and practically begged the members to get behind me and chant. Freakin tossing losers!!
I watched it again this morning, the crowd was pretty vocal on TV (but not as feral as the Adelaide crowd ... they were LOUD).
Apart from winning, a highlight was the young bald Docker supporter in front of me. In the third quarter he was mouthing off about how great the quokkers were .... in the fourth quarter, every time we got a goal, I rubbed his head for luck.
        It was hilarious.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

anne, thats telstra stadium, zero atmosphere....I said it last night and I mean it, the only time I feel any atmosphere or crowd support out there is when I was drunk as a skunk, which I was last night. lol...

sneaking my vodka on the train home was an act of genius I must say so!....and surfing the train home even stupider...

not as bad as what happened when I went to my local Rebel sport to get me a swans scarf on Friday. the cashier asked me

"so when are they playing next?"
              followed by
              "against who?"
              "where at?"
              "what time is KICKOFF?"

made my blodd boil but nevertheless I remained calm and answered each one

My favourite moments on the way to the game were:

                    1. People beeping their horns and yelling out "Carn the Doggies!!!" (this happened about 20 times btw)

                    2. And all the other well-wishing people... wishing my team luck against the Melbourne Storm!

I think the NRL should sponsor a literacy program for their fans (I nearly said Members just then.. but thats right.... NRL clubs dont really have any!)

Sucked in that their GF is between Brisbane and Melbourne!
If the siren sounds in Tasmania, and the umpires don't hear it, does it make a sound?

An "interstate" NRL final is good for US. Only the total die-hards in Sydney will be interested and the rest will jump on our bandwagon.
Pull up a few chairs I say!!
I saw a group of the "sterotypical" bulldog army at Strathfield Station on their way into town. They got all excited when they saw us and screamed out "go swannies ... hope you kill em".

In 2003 we made a hell of a racket against Brisbane. You watch a replay of those 3rd quarter goals to Noggie & Williams; the cameras are starting to jitter a little because of the roar.

At Homebush I start up the "!! !!! !!!! Syd- nee" chant & it tends to really echo off that stand above us. I normally have the Swans members reserve behind me to join in with the chanting. Last night I didn't have those people. It made a hell of a difference.

Maybe it was because it was a Friday night and people had to come from a hard day at work? Maybe it was because not many people dislike or actually know anything much about Freo, hence the lack of fire in their bellies. Maybe it is the fact that there were so many ring-ins in attendance. Or maybe the fire in our bellies is not as strong, because we have already won one & the desperation to win one is not there?

The GF atmosphere was awesome last year. Hopefully it will be just as good this season. And better in the Cheer Squad than what it was last year.

It sure bloody will. The mighty blue & gold will feature prominently too. I can't wait, as this will be my first time at a GF.

I enjoy reading RWO. I am one of those people who would label Swans' fans with the stereotype of "not knowing anything about the game" because the majority of them come from a Rugby dominated state, but, not anymore! I have a newfound respect for Swans' supporters thanks to this site and it's forums.
