Sheeds is a bitter old man

    Sheedy bitter and twisted

The bitchy reference to Ted Richards, the insinuation that we cheat with forward blocking, the definitive statement that we have been lucky to win the flag because we have had no injuries for three years.

If he was smarter he'd realise...

    1. Ted Richards has a lot of ability and has benefited from a supportive environment and faith from the coach.

    2. Our style of play is within the rules of the game. In this era, coaches must use sophisticated stategies to win games. Sadly for Essendon, whatever coaching intellect Sheeds had was long ago drowned in the bottom of a wine glass.

    3. Injury management is now the difference between winning and losing. His club is @@@@ at it, ours is very good at it.

Conculsion - Sheeds is an anachronistic joke with a chip on his shoulder. While he continues to live in denial of modern football, Essendon will never win another flag.

Of course that suits me fine.
He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.

To quote Toby Zeigler "You win then you give them a front row ticket so they can wallow in their loserdome"

Still hasn't gotten over the fact we beat them bt 169 points in 1987

He hates us and it is beautiful to watch

Same with Aints supporters, although their punishment should be to watch and support their own club.

    Which is punishment enough
You don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! You sit them in the front row. You give them a hat! Toby Ziegler

Still hasn't got over 96 as well. He genuinely believes they would have beaten North the next week.

Kevin not happy with the free kick imbalance against Sydney, he's right, we get hammered by the umps, just not enough - good stuff Kevin!

Dons on the other hand spend more time flopping on the grass than an entire Tai Chi class and threaten the Umps that aren't with them all the way. Gees, we've got Goldy, how dare that McLaren mug pay them against us and let that insult be a warning to all you officials!!!!

Did Hirdy ever do his community service?

My god. Bitter much? Hope Essendon languishes on the bottom of the ladder for a few years yet.

I hate to say it (actually, I LURV to say it) but Sheeds is well and truly past his use by date.
Doesn't matter how many years they spend languishing at the bottom of the ladder picking up the best draft picks, they're not going to make good use of them until they get rid of Sheeds. He's way too old school for the modern game.
            Well, IMO anyway!!
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

I suspect that he is a classic shifter of perception from reality to rubbish and so skilled that we barely notice. He's been doing it a long time and it's worn so thin.

Some of these shifted realities is the perception that he's all inclusive and up to the mark with all players of ALL ages. I refuse to believe that he can utter a communcation at all to the 18, 19, 20 year olds hence the struggle with getting talent realised. He's leaving to his able assistants, the like of Connan Ayres...brilliant!

Good on you for preserving Solomon too Kevvy?

Sheedy recruits older blokes because he thinks they don't need coaching and can adapt to any style. Great in theory and gets him off the development hook.

In late 2005 his Sdon fans were calling for his public lynching at about round 15 because he refused to play and develop younger players. Laid low for a few weeks then declared that the right way to go was develop youth.

His solution to 2006 was to drag that hack Rioli over the line for 100 games with a girth bigger than Fat Bastard out of Austin Powers.

While On The Couch keeps putting this old fossil on every year to spout his ramblings the Sdon heirachy will continue to fall for the grumpy old man.

I feel sorry for Hirdy ... a stellar player and a fine example for the game, having to finish his career on the bottom of the ladder!!

I still remember 6-7 years ago when the Dons were smug @$$holes and were predicted to win 2-3 premierships. In that timeframe, Carlton plunged a stake into their evil hearts and then they had their spines ripped out by a Brisbane side that would go on to claim the mantle of legendary status that Essendon were tipping themselves to earn.

Of course Richards is still making mistakes. It's going to take more than a year for him to flush out that panic-stricken, desperate 'omg, we're 40 points down' instinct that was coached into him at the Bombers!

                          Alzheimers?

                          Sydney will win flag

He's worse than Malthouse in saying whatever sounds logical at the time, regardless of whether he is contradicting previous statements of his own.

I suppose he thinks injuries to Rioli, Cole etc are merely horribly bad luck - nothing to do with fitness or preparation.

Also having players miss (by my count) 10 games to suspension this year (compared to Sydney's 0) is 'act of god' stuff that you just can't control.

I had my doubts on Ted Richards but it's obviously kiiling Sheeds to see him play decent, consistent footy elsewhere while he stubbornly perseveres with the likes of M.Bolton, Henneman etc.

I didn't think he slammed the Swans too much.

he is entitles to his opinion, and there is some merit in some of the things he's said.

Sheedy has always been an advocate of a national league and has done a lot for the national comp and footy in Sydney.

I however, think we will win by 30

I can cope with him saying we will be beaten by a better side, but not with calling us cheats and insinuating our prolonged success has been based on luck. Also, why does he call Roos the 'Sundance Kid'?
He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.
