who umpired last yr's GF because i thought it was umpired very very well ... they let the game flow and didn't have much of an influence so a game umpired like that would be excellent.

I really hate to say this (it's killing me), but I thought the maggots did an alright job on Friday night.
I'm loving the way that they are letting play go on for a little longer before the blow the wistle.
They know they're being watched ... they should do a great job on Saturday.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

I hate it when I'm posting to a thread and it's merged or closed or whatever between the time I start and end my posts. It's happened twice today!

            Anyway ...

I can live with Goldy, he umpired 1996 PF against Essendon and 2005 GF, both of them finals we won.

Well done Vozzo on being selected for his first Grand Final. May his opening bounce be straight and true.

Allen is another invisible ump. Invisible umps are good umps.

I agree as to above being most likely.

The umpire on Saturday let a bit to be desired with Goldsphincter making some interesting umpring decisions against wee girls.

              Maybe that's good.

Heading down last year I listened to SEN as they interviewed Goldspink. The interview was very entertaining but Goldy also said that the best two games he's ever umpired was the Essendon-Swans PF in 1996 and Plugger's point and the Swans-Cats semi last year because they let the game run and ignored minor frees.

I've had more respect for him every since. I even called out "good interview Darren" during the parade - he looked stunned to get a compliment.

Voz will out-umpire McLaren even if he shows up drunk to the game!

And if Goldy and Allen umpire likes it the last game of 2005...... well we could end up with a cracker of a game, not influencd by the umpires at all
If the siren sounds in Tasmania, and the umpires don't hear it, does it make a sound?
