    Forwards on Fire

Friday's game witnessed the greatest collective game our 3 key forwards have played together

In the 81 games that Hall, O'Keefe and O'Loughlin have played together the stats read as follows

    Total Points 87 Rank 1
    Total Goals 14 Rank 1
    Disposals 64 Rank 2
    Kicks 53 Rank 1
    Marks 31 Rank 2

If they can retain this form into Saturday we will win.

Yep agree. It is quite amusing listening to all the pundits talking up WC again.

If MickyO had been playing like he was on friday last year, instead of the yips - we would have romped it home.

    Bring it on I say.
I will be a member again when I return.

      I agree Bart.

I have immense confidence in our defence and midfield. West Coast have been unable to break us down in the past half dozen clashes so you'd have to back the Swans in again with these match-ups.

So our forwards hold the key and as good as Judd, Cousins et al are its about time the journos recognised that Hall, Micky and ROK are all in form equal to any Weagle.

Should also have added accuracy: 14.3, 9.2 and 8.2 in our past 3 games + the stats above = FORM

I wouldn't depend on past statistics to guage how well we do in the final.

We need to fan the forward fire by going back to some of the basics :

            1) communicate clear & concise FOR the player with the ball
            - that extra split second can determine steadying goal or a rush behind or a clean pin point pass to fellow player. Often, a player dont realise that they have more time to kick the goal accurately instead of rushing to kick it.

clear - showing the signal clearly eg indicate that the player with the ball has half or 1 second or has time between himself & the opponents at the back etc
concise - showing the correct signal eg to kick to unguarded player or keep on running forward instead of thinking who he should kick it to.

It should be top priority in this final to CONSTANTLY give messages ALL OVER the ground no matter how small the message is. A couple of smart play due to clear messages means our play is clinically effective. A couple of steadying goals to due to clear communication could mean 10-15% goal advantage.

            2) After a goal is scored & celeberated by us or the opponents, immeidately, SWITCH ON your thinking caps during the short 1-2 minutes break before the ball is bounced again. Where is our (& opponents) strength or weakness. Exploit the opponents weaknesses, utilise our strength subject to runner/coach instructions. For example, which of our forward is stamping his authority in marking & kicking goals. Which line of opponents defence is weaker - left or right flank.

            3) Record low in all silly panelties eg push in the pack, over the ball, touching heads. etc

            4) Smart side stepping opponents is hardly used by us. It is so simple and effective. If you want to go to the right of a opponent facing you, you can do a MOL magic trick of stepping to the left with the opponent going to the left as well , and then step to the right, rush forward then u have a clear couple of metres to kick in the panorama wide screen no obstruction view. So simple & elegant, so smart.

            5) A repeat of Hall's spectacular pack mark (Vs Freo) with knee in the opponents back would start the ball rolling & dent the opponents hearts just that little bit at the start. A couple of these kind of pack marks in the final at the precise moments would HURT them.

            6) smart tapping to space closer to fellow player/crumbers or to space where u can run into etc.

7)Crumbers & talls doing their jobs & assist the forwards.
