A remarkably enjoyable loss to the swans last week, our city's rep for of the enemy code. (and the silliest sport on the planet)

Feel free to join the 2 dozen or so of us in Bay 26 next year, who love nothing but to poke fun at the 'red and white
on a more positive note from the same forum

from league fans
AFL is a subversive threat to our culture and way of life. The Swans are part of the plot.

I think that we should all stand up and be counted as being ANTI AFL!

So add this to your signatures!!!!

And don't watch AFL especially next week!!!! Tell the TV stations you don't care about AFL and don't want it, no matter what rubbish they try to pass off as a Sydney team!
Could there be anything better than Sydney winning the AFL premiership in the same year that a non-Sydney club wins the NRL premiership? As for soccer...well, there isn't much to say really. Their glory days were brief.

I can expect that from die-hard NRL fans, but soccer fans? I guess they believe the soccer players do get injured when they get "tripped" over...
I only support one team: The SYDNEY SWANS!!!!! :adore

Those are a small minority. Some of us, not all of us, like the other sports as well. The Swans are easily my favourite, but i also have an interest in Sydney FC. I have absolutely no desire to compare the two sports, i don't really see the point.

If you all carry on about soccer, then its just as bad as them doing it about our sport isn't it?

I am pretty much keeping my time of Sydney FC Unofficial to a minimum this week, as their hypercritical (and extremely jealous) attitude towards the Swans and the exposure footy gets these days makes my blood boil to be honest. (and you wonder why I'm not heading to Adelaide to support them this week after the GF :rollseyes

I keep telling them that alienating supporters of a club that draws up to 70000 to matches yet statistics have proven are far more likely to follow another code of football is something the fledgling club could ill afford to do.

They'll talk about rugby league but appear so threatened by AFL. Personally I'm rather bemused by this attitude to be honest. RWO on the whole embraced the World Cup when it was on; why can't they?

I agree. Soccer is soccer, league is league and Aussie Rules is Aussie Rules. They are all codes of football but have different rules each.

Isn't it funny how it is the other codes who always seem to rubbish Aussie Rules.

Jealousy, fear or poor self esteem in the belief of their own game. Pity the hoards of fans dont back up their rhetoric and go and watch their own sport in droves.

I agree wholeheartedly, they are jealous because they know AFL is the better more exciting game.

The others proceed with some justification from the premise that ours is purely a parochial game...no international aspirations etc.
Of course they are right...but do we really care?
Perhaps I wish that AFL was played at a high level elsewhere...but does it really matter?
Which game touches me from the tip of my toes to the top of my head...that's what matters...& it's "no contest"!

I think everyone should stop calling these games "codes". They are all completely seperate sports and bear no relation to each other apart from the fact that there is a bag of wind involved. I've always followed soccer/football but since someone compared it to a sports version of Riverdance I can't get the image of that out of my head. I watched Southend v Cardiff live on Foxsports at the weekend and had to turn it off. All I could see was 22 Michael Flatleys running around in red and blue shirts.

I would absolutely hate AFL being played internationally other than say against a few countries like SA or NZ. If it were to be played at an international level like soccer we would become a rump like OZ soccer is at the moment. The salary cap would go. Players would follow the big money and like UK soccer only a few clubs would win the flag over a 20 year time span.

How can you enjoy winning a flag when you bought it or more correctly some squillionaire supporter paid for it?

I couldn't stand my club becoming incorporated and listed on the stock exchange and having profit as a motive. The cost of attending games would rise and the grass roots fan would be just a pay TV viewer.

No Thanks. I like it just as it is.
