    History Repeating

The last time two teams met in the Grand Final in successive years, Brisbane Lions had a narrow win the first time before following that up with a blowout.

Pretty confident we will see the same result this Saturday.

I like that - I do think we can draw a bit from the Brisbane/Collingwood grand finals.

The thing that worries me, but doesn't mean much of course, is the fact that West Coast won a very tight Qualifying Final and had the Brownlow medalist last year - exactly what the swans have done this year!!!

Remember also that WC has travelled more than Sydney this year They might have followed similar path, but their travel was longer.

Brisbane would have had Black and Acker as Brownlow Medallists so use that as your omen

difference is that we're no brisbane lions and the eagles are much better than the pies circa 02/03

but i agree that its all set up for us with regards to the week off and extra recovery and less travel etc..........

I hope omens & history don't count this time around. In fact, I'm a little worried by how similar our pattern is to WCE's last year.

Won final #1, narrowly. Had the week off
                  Won Prelim, comfortably
                  Won the Brownlow
                  Lost the GF

I'm seriously hoping we can make that 3 from 4 this year!
To all those people who waited 72 years to see a South Melbourne/Sydney Swans premiership HERE IT IS!!

I agree with you Red but i've also been telling anybody who asks that even though the similarities set us up for a loss that I really don't think the swans will seccumb to airy fairy theories and if the eagles are going to win the Swans will not make it easy for them.

You can not though discount what impact the Stenglein free-kick had. It gave us a chip on our shoulder and extra incentive for justice when we later met them in the GF.

The Eagles don't have that, just excuses.
Wanting to avenge last year will only get them so far.

There is no doubt that we are their nemisis or kryptontite.

And the game not being in Perth is a massive advantage for us and disadvantage for them.

If we are looking at history repeating lets look at some positives

                        1. Last year we won a Reserves Grand Final and an AFL one...this year we have won a Reserves Grand Final and......

                        2. Last year we won 3 finals matches to win a premiership.....this year we will win 3 finals matches.....

I am a "premiership cup is 1/2 full" person

No comparison between pies and weagles. On paper, weagles look certain.

It's really weird this year. Last year I was really nervous from the moment I got my ticket on the Sunday.

This year I am excited about the game and, unusually for me, confident of winning. Last year I genuinely thought that the E Girls would be too good but this year I think the midfields will break even allowing Hall,MOL,Davo and ROK to kick a winning score. I'm thinking a 4-5 goal win.

I think there is something wrong with me. I'm usually a "glass half empty" bloke.
