    some interesting GF stats

    1. There have been 15 occassions in history where the same 2 teams have played off consecutively.

Only five times has the same team won both years.

    2. Here are the records of the position on the ladder and the respestive times that position has won the GF

    1st - 59 (54%)
    2nd - 30 (28%)
    3rd - 11 (10%)
    4th - 7 (6%)
    5th - 2 (2%)
    6th -8th - 0

In the last 10 years only 2 teams that finished top of the ladder won the GF.

    3. Here are the grand final played win loss ratios - It's our turn

    4. Lastly a good trivia question - the most number of behinds scored in a GF was 27. The second highest number of behinds scored in a GF was 25. The fifth highest number of behinds scored in a GF was 23. What was unusual about those GF's?..

    A: The highest and 5th highest were the 2 drawn GF's ('48 & '77) - the 2nd was the replay in '77

    one more odd stat

in 109 GF's there have been 14 times when the winner had less scoring shots than the loser. Before the swans win in 2005 (18 shots to WCE 19) the previous occasion was in 1972 (richmond 22.18 lost to carlton 28.9)
