I'm guessing that there cannot keep being close games> I'm tipping one side will crack a bit under the pressure this year and end in a 6-8 goal win

So who's under more pressure then.
The Toasters IMO, especially with Woosha doing a "Cornflakes" last week saying that he's confident they will win it.

Re: Something's gotta give
Have thought along those lines myself. In fact I had a feeling it might have happened in the Perth final. I just hope though it's not a mirror image of last year as some are predicting. Last year WC had the Brownlow medallist, the week's break etc. but lost. This year it has happened in reverse.Originally posted by Reggi

That's what the E-girls fans are hoping for, but I don't think it's going to happen. I can expect the Eagles to become the next Collingwood or Geelong though...Originally posted by Snowy

I only support one team: The SYDNEY SWANS!!!!! :adoreComment

The whole mirror thing is not right. If this was the case, Sydney would have finished ahead of the Eagles on the ladder, won the first final in Sydney with some bull@@@@ umpiring, then go on to lose the Grand Final. A scenario which will never happen because Sydney will never get those kind of umpiring decisions!Comment

Well we know Sydney won't crack or stop trying. But I'm less certain about how the Eagles might react if things start to go badly.
If we can kick straight and get a good lead the pressure of losing two GFs in a row - especially after assuming they were just going to walk it in both times - might get the better of them. Don't be shocked if their own fans start riding them.
Collingwood 2003 anyone?

Kicking straight is a BIG one!
I can almost guarantee they'll have more scoring shots than us. We MUST kick accurately early... if we don't I'll worry

But how many times have the Eagles come from a fair way behind this season to snatch games. Carlton, Geelong, the prelim. they've made a massive habit of doing it all year. What will be strange is if *they* are 3 or 4 up at half time. It'll be a position they aren't all that familiar with in a big game. If we are up at half time they are dead set certain to come back into it, just watch the way Cousins particularly lifts early in the third quarters. There isn't a hope in hell that we'll roll them.Originally posted by Tuco

I'm not concerned about a 3 or 4 goal deficit at half time breaking our will. Our players will know they have the fitness to play out the game.Originally posted by floppinab

I wasn't talking about the likelihood of getting a big lead, though. I was talking about what might happen to the Eagles if and I emphasise "if" we get a big lead.
Also there is a big difference between coming over the top of cellar dwellars (and Geelong's form line at that stage of the year was on a par with Essendon and co.) and running over the Swans late in the game.
It was a fantastic performance against Adel...but they were limping badly and had been a man down almost all day.Comment

I've been thinking the same thing. How can a team be so lousy in the first half of a game and play like runners-up in the second half so many times? I think it is suspicious.Originally posted by Dave

This year we led at half time 15 times. 14 games we won. The only game we lost after leading at half time was against the Eagles.Originally posted by Tuco

But things will be different this time - the Grand Final is not played at Subiaco."Unbelievable!" -- Nick Davis leaves his mark on the 2005 semi finalComment
