If memory serves me correctly, they actually wanted the 1st team in WA to actually be the "Swans", playing in WA yellow & black.

They chose the "Eagles" monniker because the team would be flying lots. That is really deep & meaningful, don't you think?

West Coast Eagles = Golden State Warriors. Both meant to represent the "west coast" and have blue & yellow.

The team should be renamed Perth Eagles so to get rid of at least half their arrogance...

Maybe true JF, but mate the issues of having an AFL club with Perth as their first name would just unwind and devalue about 70-80 years of WAFL tradition...for a person who loves the WAFL more then the AFL, I am glad they chose to have West Coast in their name.

That's the thing - not everyone in WA wants to support the Eagles. This is not a slight on West Coast as a team, it's just reality. By way of analogy, there are plenty of NRL die-hards in Sydney who wouldn't support the Swans, but there's nothing wrong with that, either.

One is the use of the word (I think is (Needles?) Plus this sentence (But no one cares who wins as long as they finish near the scarf.).

lived in your fair city for 4 1/2 years(glebe - funky town) and loved it, thought all this was just amusing until hearing the WCE vitriol unleashed in the last couple of days on TV, redneck talkback papers etc.
