the highs and lows.. im absolutely gutted..
great effort in 2nd hald, but lost to a way better team today..

courage and heart will get you one flag, but getting smashed in the midfield for 3qtrs of footy will lose you more GF's than you win,

almost stole it from them.. well done west coats, deserving flag winners this year

They kicked straight, we didn't. Had it been 3-2 at quarter time instead of 1-4, we would probably have won by 30 points or more.

Now I will share with you what I posted on my blog:
Today I watched the Grand Final at a friend's place, with one or two fellow fans and a few sympathetic neutrals. The Swans lost the Grand Final by one point. One lousy point.

I have not yet come to terms with the loss and the closeness of the game. The Swans played poorly in the first half, and did well to come back in the second to make the game close. Well done to the Eagles; they have been a superb side over the last two years. In the future the fans of both clubs will look back on these two close and thrilling Grand Finals and be satisfied that these epic games produced one premiership for each side and thrilling entertainment for the neutral fans.

Yet life goes on. Now that the football season is over it is time to do these chores that have gone undone during the football season. The first thing I did when I got home from watching the game was to spend some time weeding a garden bed that I had not touched for months. Soon I will plant some new plants there. While it will take some getting over such a close loss in a Grand Final, I will find some solace in nurturing these new plants over the spring and summer.

yeah I'm @@@@@@ off and all but Hallsy missed some SIMPLE KICKS. we could've won by 3 or so goals. People will say at least we won in 2005 but in the end that doesn't matter, the WINNING TEAM WILL BE REMEMBERED!!!!!

Bugger. Sorry for you guys. One lousy point! Understandable that your players and supporters would feel gutted. In the end it could've gone either way. Also feel sorry for us followers of the Imperial Purple in WA - the Weagles fans are gonna be unbearably smug over this....

@@@@ everyone who is blaming Hall for losing this game for us. Its ateam game and shouldn't be up to one player to carry the game for the rest. Yes he had a shocker and will live with it for the rest of his life, but geez, to blame him for the loss is really getting desperate looking for a scarpegoat. Im damn proud of how the Swans have goen this year. A one point loss is the worse kind of defeat you can get, but i'll be damned if i sit here and start blaming individual players, even though we're all experiencing the lowest of lows as a footy folllowder.

              Congrats WCE. Deserving 2006 premiers.

I am proud of the boys and it was so close - could have gone either way. West Coast have possibly the best midfield ever assembled and to get close speaks well of our team. It was a mighty game.

Yet the fact remains that to win we needed Barry Hall to play at least a good game. He didn't just have abad game, but a terrible game. I think the person hardest on Barry Hall at the moment would be Barry Hall.
He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.

hall got beaten by his man and by no means had agood day. however, he kept at it and indirectly made a number of opportunities by making a contest. he did what any forward should do and kept at it. the only real disappointment i felt from his game was his poor disposal by hand but i in no way felt that he shamed himself.
then again, i think it would be worth trying 15-16 players on field so what would i know

We are all gutted. But, if one point separates us after 26 weeks of football they have still done us proud. No need to give up on them.

2 of our captains had terrible games. Hall was passable at times, but just looked like a deer in headlights for most of it. Leo's game summed up his year - bad. Kirk on the other hand, was missing in the 1st half, came on strong in the 2nd. Just kept on keeping on.

It was really our 2nd-tier players who kept us in it. Huge games from Teddy, Eski, Fosdike, Davis, Schneider.. even Dempster had a great last quarter.

I'm never watching this game again
Yes, exactly - mid experience gamers did great. 2007 could be better, particulary because of them. Maybe a Superstar or two needed (underworld connections optional)?

I'm quite positive about the outcome, dunno why, but thougth we just played a crap first 1/2. Both teams have played much better games.

From personal experience, a grown man doesn't cry for the opposition, yes they were better, but we had our chances!! Well done to the boys, but geeze, 1 point hurts more than 1,000,000. Congrats, geez i hurt

well said. I'm also pretty damn disappointed about his two missed goals though.
