LRT played a terrible game and Roos's tactical question marks

    great game, disappointing result.

Sydney should have won the game. It is extremely unusual to see Barry Hall missing 2 easy shots from right in front, and Jude Bolten missing a set shot from in front as well. Any of those converted from a behind to a 6 pointer would have won us the game.

LRT played a terrible game. Fumbling, missing targets, mistackles, handballing to opponents...etc, I think he should be traded in the trade week.

Also, I can't believe Roos persisted in playing Leo Barry on Lynch. Barry was too small and got outmarked by lynch repeatedly. If I were Roos, I would switch Barry to a smaller opponent.

Overall, if 1 point is the difference between one of Swans' worst performance and Weagle's better performances, then next year looks pretty encouraging. We just need to get another tall backman and one more quick midfielder in the trade week.

Some vaild points allanh, but in respect of Leo the times he got out marked by Lynch were off the back of some very easy clearances in the first half where the Eagles midfield served the ball up to him on a platter or placed it to his advantage.

When the ball came in 50/50 Leo held his own very well.

As for trades, would love another tall defender. Maybe Staker may want to go back to NSW. Hopefully one of our younger guys can step up midfield wise next year.

Spider would also add to the side.

The problem with LRT is he is very much a confidence player, and his confidence was shot after last week.

With regards to Lynch, its easy to say switch Barry to a smaller opponent, but who would you put on Lynch then?

We were beaten by a better team on the day, can't really question Roo's tactically when some of the players themselves down with their performance. Some didn't play well and thats probably a factor as to why we lost. So many if's and but's, but the crucial ones were Hall missing a few set shots IMO. So crucial. Some players may make mistakes, but if you can't convert anything in front of goal when you have the chance then you don't deserve to win.

LRT had a shocker, as did Hall, J Bolton, Jolly, Doyle.

Barry was okay - Lynch was getting a lot from rebounds.

Hall missed two set shots and J Bolton missed two set shots, all at the Punt Rd end. Very very costly.

Eagles were the better team on the day. We should have been the better team - we blew it.

If Roos can take credit for building the team he also has to take some responsibility for them not turning up until half time.

Yep, LRT was ordinary, and his weakness is that he isnt really an option up forward. Seemed to get in the way. But expectations must be managed. He's no star yet.

Hall, considering what was possible, very dissapointing.
Jolly - beaten comprehensively by Cox again. I wonder if rucking on his own most of the year took its toll.
Doyle - again expectations must be managed. First finals series. I though he was ok as 2nd ruck.

Barry was okay - Lynch was getting a lot from rebounds.
Yep. Only so much a defender can do.

VERY VERY COSTLY. Eagles were always going to run out of legs, but WE HAD TO hit the front sometime before the last quarter.

Agreed. But to go 1 from 2 in grand finals decided by less than a goal is to be expected.

Yup. We had no "suprise moves" at all.

Yeah, I really wouldn't be laying any ofthe blame at his door. Poor game, but he's still developing. Same excuse is not applciable to plenty of other players though.

I'm just not sure if Doyle is going to be much good.

Yep - I kept thinking, we're still in it, we just need to convert a few more chances and we can run over them. If we were a couple of goals closer at half time and hit the front before 3QT, I think we may have run away with it.

It's a fantastic performance, but it's also an opportunity wasted. Will be interesting to see how we go next year for so many reasons.

Yup. We had no "suprise moves" at all.
I can't believe Roos let Wirrpanda run loose for most of the first half. Putting Davis onto him in the second half was a great move and nearly turned the game. Should have done it earlier.

which asks the question: how beneficial is the week off? Does it actually do more harm to a team's momentum than good?

This year is just about an exact opposite of last year. However, the eagles managed to grab the lead last year before we hit back; we never stole the lead in this GF. I wonder how the eagles would have reacted had they been behind or had the scores been level at any stage in the 4th qtr.

the weagle's midfielders were much fasters in their runs. Pure talent-wise, it is true that weagles were on top. However, with our courage/teamwork, we would have won if a few of our players did not choke in crucial moments.

Weagle's final goal (Ashely Hanson) was a shocker. We fumbled in front of WC's goal square and a 1 point lead become a 7 pointer.

some of the goals made by the WCE were all courtesy from the Swans players.

Well we can blame SOS it was his fault LRT had a shocker.IMO we gave them to many goals from handling errors, especialy right in front.

If he needed SOS to coach him in the week leading up to GF, no way should he have been played!!!!

It's obvious he just didn't have it in him. Anyone would have been better.

yes, trade LRT and Leo Barry for a young, up-and-coming defender or midfielder..

What about Ashley Sampi from WC+ a 2nd round draft pick?

                              LRT

Yes LRT had ANOTHER (consecutive) shocker. I think the writing was on the wall with him. The selectors should have seen this last week instead of being so politically correct in their selection.

I think Heath Grundy would have been much more appropriate in the positiion. Wake up Roos.
