    Eagles - 4 years : Swans - finished

that's what robert walls was saying post match during the broadcast, that the eagles window of opportunity will last at least another 4 years while the swans one is closing. suggesting on top of 05/06 season to make it 6 years at the top. pfft.

serious?? they reckon that there are so many youngsters in the team.

True that judd, lynch, and kerr are early twenties, but then there is banfield, chick, wirrpunda, cousins, jones, braun, glass etc who are all set to finish in 5 years and you would think their peak has been reached.

while on our side there is mickey, hall, kirk, barry, crouch, matthews who are all creeping up to 30, but that is not enough to suggest the window is closing as of now.

we have less players on our list born in the seventies and more players who played today who have had under a hundred games experience.

both teams rebuilded during the 2000/1/2 years and i hope the rivalry will take us through to 2009.

I think the next two years at least we can be serious contenders, as in this modern game 4 years is the absolute peak a team can remain serious threats (top4) without major restructuring.

Wallsy can keep his stupid comments to himself. I wouldn't be surprised if him and the other so-called experts have tipped the Eagles to win the next 3 premierships...
I only support one team: The SYDNEY SWANS!!!!! :adore

very stupid of walls to say the swans are finished.

if you can keep Hall, mick, barry and kirk going for a another couple of years then you still have a heap of youth to back them up + draft picks

apart from cousins Braun and fletcher (all about 28 and 2-3 years left at the top level) our most important players are all 26 or under so yes its fair to say that WC are well capapable of staying near the top of the ladder for the next 3-4 seasons and having a few more tilts at the flag

Wallsy is a very smart person, but his opinions blow with the wind. Take no notice.

          pfft... forget what walls says.

Hally, Barry, Kirky are getting old and they're great footballers for the swans, but isn't he forgetting the younger guns??? hmm... such as snides, monty, teddy, b1, reg, flipper....

There's nothing sweeter than proving "experts" who write us off wrong... We have a great range of young guns who are showing so much protentials, i dont think wallsy knows how well they play.
Heros in our heart no matter what. GO SWANNIES!!! BRING ON 07!!!

we have been written off by the "experts" for the past 10 yrs.. yet we made the finals in nearly every year. (we were even tipped to be wooden spooners in 2003, yet we made the Preliminary finals..)

Some 'experts' never learn, do they?

Experts only want the Victorian clubs or the Eagles win the flag, they don't realise that Sydney isn't just NRL-only...

This is exactly what I think too... Walls can go jump. I think we have at least 2 years before we have to think about rebuilding again.

I reckon Wallsy's comments are in line with our Plan A position that is we are a team of battlers that everyone underestimates. I think Wallsy has been one of our best allies over the past 2 seasons and he is showing every sign of helping out again next season. I trust that he keeps a high profile under the new television and radio regime. GO THE BLOODS!

Robert Walls is an expert "after the fact" commentator. He would never make such a statement PRIOR to the Grand Final, no, he has to wait until AFTER the game to make a statement. Would he have made that same statement if we had won? NUP! He would most likely have said, "These West Coast players may have seen their last opportunity slip by". He is a junk commentator, seriously.

He in fact stated many a turn that wouldn't eventuaute if the tables were turned. He tried to "predict" outcomes that were truly outrageous and all had egg in face in it. He then tries to change opinions mid stream to suit the trend. Tool.
