    Monty & Bomber yesterday

Amon Buchanan.A man who knows his limitations and works his guts out to overcome them. Not a stellar game , but still his attack on man and ball was ferocious yesterday. He'll do me for next captain.

Bomber McVeigh - had Ben Cousins backing off - well done , son.

Buchanan played extremely well yesterday. I thought he was our best. There's nothing pretty about his football, but it's so damn effective. To play like he did, he no doubt has what it takes to play in the toughest of circumstances. Many, many pats on the back, well done!

I thought Schneider played well also with the same tenacity as Buchanan. Both he and Buchanan's attack on the ball and the man changed the flow of the game on many occasions.

Adam Goodes, what can you say? Champion. I criticised him earlier this year for his lack of respect on his own opponent and unwillingness to chase, but since around R12 he all of a sudden became a top defensive and well as a top offensive player. His chase and run down of Chris Judd yesterday was sensational. What an emotional roller coaster he must be on. One week, King of the comp, the next, absolutely gutted.

Cant agree on Amon. 5 kicks is hardly having a good game. But maybe there was a good reason.

My mail from a very, very reliable source just before the game is that he has been carrying a knee cartledge injury for some weeks and is having an operation on Wednesday.

This just proves to me that we need to rotate younger players through the seniors a lot more to ensure ready replacements who can play at a high level. Not just rely on the likes of Bevan to plug holes.

Bulldogs have been forced to do it with remarkable results.

This is where stats lie. He may not have many kicks himself, but the amount of times he forced a turnover so that his team mates ended up with the ball (and another stat) was fantastic. Unfortunately 1%ers get unnoticed most of the time. He put his body on the line more than most, and gave every ounce of effort in every contest. That to me, is more inspirational than a fancy, flashy baulk around an opponent.

Dont disagree with that but he lacked his explosive breaks.
